this is my 2nd string of these lights, I really like them. The 'beach glass' seems to be made of real glass, so has a bit of weight to it (vs a light plastic), and the colors look very soft and pretty with the lights behind them. There is a remote that you can set for several different time lengths (ie 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 or 8 hours) and the lights will turn on at the same time every day and be on for as long as you have chosen. Beware,these lights do suck down the batteries, I get about a weeks worth of good shine from batteries, but I am on subscribe & save for the Amazon Basics, so always have some on hand. The first string I have draping on the fireplace mantle, which adds some light to that area of the living room each evening, and this new set I put in a cool glass shell I got from Pottery Barn (the entire string fit in there) and use it in my bedroom as a night light when I go to bed.Update 5/3/17: I don't want to mislead anyone, I get a shorter battery life on my lights than maybe most as I have mine coming on at about 6pm for either 6 or 8 hours every evening. Winters here get dark early,and they are just extra mood lighting in my place. You might do a lot better with shorter on times. Photo of the newest strand, in the glass shell, in my bedroom, using it as a night light, I fell a few years ago, broke my ankle, so, decided a little bit of light at night is better than ankle surgery ;)

I set these up in my bathroom, which has a sort of rainy seaside theme. They look pretty realistic, especially if you don't look too closely.Pros: I didn't even realize they had a remote when I ordered them, but it's a really nice feature. I like that I can dim or brighten the lights from my bathtub. I really like using them as a nightlight in the bathroom, which is nice if anyone needs to make a late night visit, and I like that I can put them on a timer so they aren't on all night long.Cons: Biggest gripe is that the flicker mode is really just blinking. I'm also not thrilled that the tint of the lights themselves has a strong blue tone. When they're on, it kind of overwhelms the color of the individual pieces, which is a shame, because there's a nice color variety. A more neutral light would better show off the rosy or white bits instead of just making all of them look blue.Pros definitely overwhelm the cons for me, and for the price they perform very well. Just figured I'd note the caveats for anyone else considering a purchase.

The quality of these lights is far beyond what I expected for what we paid. We bought 2 of the sea glass ones and 2 of the seashell versions, and all worked perfectly out of the box. I loved the fact that they all worked with one remote, they are not dependent on the remote in each individual box.They look very very nice when lit. Really surprisingly nice. The Sweetheart was absolutely thrilled!The one thing that would be a huge bonus is if they included a short wired cord so that you could daisy-chain them and only have to have one plugged in at the end like a set of Christmas lights.It would be much more convenient if you did not have to have 3 or 4 USB wall pucks plugged into an extension cord to have them all lit. (And thank goodness that I have a drawer-full of those things from all of the various USB powered devices that I have acquired over the years!)But other than that., they really are terrific.

These lights are very pretty but cheaply made. The wires are super fragile. The candle setting is also very creepy...

Subtle lighting, but quite nice.
