Good Lego Alternative
My daughter loves this kit. This is her third Roomiate kit. She is in third grade and play with them several times per week. The pieces are study and colorful. I like the additional motorized pieces. She gets to learn about the mechanics of movement. Some of the pieces are difficult to put together, it not like a lego set. While legos are designed to snap together in a regular way the Roominate pieces don't do that. For example snapping two pieces together might leave a third at a weird angle and you can't attach it. There is nothing wrong, it is just different. My biggest disappointment is the car. The axels and wheels just don’t work well.In the end my daughter loves them and plays with it. That makes this kit worth it.

Mansion
This product for me, was OK. Not really sure if it deserves 3 stars? My daughter is 10 and she needed help to build it. Cons: Yes, I knew it was plastic, but when you are putting the pieces in a lot really don't snap in. Once you get one part in, another part comes apart. Your constantly having too pop pieces back in. Also, I feel like when your pushing pieces in, they feel like they will bend and ultimately be unusable. It would be nice if the company would included "just in case" pieces. But she loves it otherwise.

boy i wish i read the reviews before buying!!!!
Just like the other reviews stated I love the idea behind this product. My girls try and build and restructure "apartments" for the little dolls all the time. So i thought this would be a perfect gift. Well they loved it when they saw what it was but that quickly went south...Difficult to piece together which would be fine if they stood together. Once together it falls apart quickly. My girls are so disappointed. I wish there was a product on the market that allowed them to build a sturdy doll house like structure that they can assemble as they wish. . Would not buy this product again.

Disappointed
The quality on this set is considerably less than the set I purchased last year. The pieces do not fit together as well and do not stay attached to each other, they also need to be oriented in very specific ways to fit together at all, which limits creativity. With the other set, we could just put pieces together in multiple ways, with this one, we had to figure out where it needed to go, otherwise components wouldn't fit or function. It's almost impossible to make the three story mansion pictured. One of the switches only works in one direction. My daughter got so frustrated that she doesn't play with it anymore.

Lame and poor quality
This product was a huge disappointment. To quotebmy daughter "why is this toy so not fun?" We bought this for our daughter for Christmas and we were very excited about the concept. Unfortunately she was unable to play with it/didn't enjoy playing with it because the pieces require so much force to connect, but then fall apart with very little play. The wires for the control/battery pack are short so they have to be very close to the motor. Instructions included are pretty lame... almost impossible to see the details. Limited electronic functionality. These are just some of the frustrations...Before some of you go on and say something about the kids ability to play/imagine, let me say she builds things regularly with lego and has assembled fairly tedious kits from tamiya.Spend 30 bucks at Radio shack for some wire, leds a breadboard and a motor, and buy a used dollhouse for 10 bucks on Craigslist and your child will be much happier

Disappointment
I love the concept of this product, but it is difficult to keep assembled (what you have built falls apart as you continue to add on/continue to build). The motorized parts do not fit on the buildings as pictured. The directions are vague at best. I understand the whole idea behind the product is creativity and self design, but some directions, particularly with the motorized parts would be really helpful. This was at the top of our daughter's Christmas list and unfortunately has been a big disappointment. We won't be purchasing any other Roominate sets.

Good product, not so good quality.
Bought this for my niece for Christmas. She definitely likes it and is making things on her own which is the main purpose of the toy. The only thing I dislike is the quality of the set. The pieces just won't hold together and break way too easily.

Frustrating
As my seven-year-old said, "I think the problem is that no one tested it after they made the pieces. Maybe no one at the company has actually tried to put it together." The instructions are very unclear. The pieces are difficult to put together, and the circuit trinkets don't work reliably. My daughter had much more success coming up with something in her head and building spontaneously.
