I'm a retired engineer. Safety is important to me. We kayak on Lake St. Clair near Detroit. There are lots of big power boats. We have one if those, too. Fromnit, I've seen kayaks and saw one with a flag like this and it seemed a good safety idea to add visibility. It was easy to install. My accessory rails are too short for this base, so I drilled holes to mount it in back with the supplied screws and plates. A ten minute job. One each on the back of my and my wife's kayaks, between the seat back and rear waterproof storage compartment. Doesn't get in the way of paddling. Easy to remove from base and stow inside the kayaks when stored in the rack at out city docks. Very light weight but sturdy. Highly recommended.

I got this flagpole to put on my kayak and put a 12x18 US Flag and a 12x18 POW/MIA Flag on it and it worked great. I did have to get creative with some zip ties to hold the flags in place, but the mount is sturdy(I did use my own screws instead of the ones provided), and the pole was easy to use and held up great on its 1st 12hour day on the river. Has worked fine every time since.

Thee top half of the base ripped off from the lower part, leaving me with a now riveted bottom section permanently attached to my boat, and the rest missing. Don't really want to have to reorder, but missing hardware and no instructions make me feel a bit ripped off.

I’m using this mount for a dive flag, replacing one that came with my float that was too low for good visibility. Had to modify the mounting hole to a lower position from one set up for the flag that came with the mount. This is a quality product except for the flag that I won’t be using anyway.
