No better than 3d conversion built into the TV
Waste of money period. A lot of setting which do nothing. The price of the unit is close to low end passive 3d TVs.

waste of money
i been research on google for this product but some people said really good and some people said really bad so i decided give myself try and finally i got it. i can't believe how can this be good as bluray 3d movies?this is pretty much same as my built in 3d converter inside my 3d tv (which is terrible). hopefully some company will bring true 3d converter in year 2013.

Its okay
First, let me state something - another reviewer said they upgraded to this from the Platinum version because this has 12 presets. BS - it has six, Movie, Movie +, Sports, Sports +, Gaming, and Popout. This is confirmed by the User Manual that is available on 3d-Bee's website for the DiamondAll of the presets SUCK, at least after what I have thrown at it in the 24 hours since I got this product. They all seem to create these weird wavey rolling images. Yeah, stuff has depth, but it is all wrong. The different settings also do not seem to make hardly any difference. I am actually kind of wondering if the device is broke. The device does have manual settings as well, and this is what I will be reviewing for the most part. The manual settings look MUCH better than the presets.Does it work? Yes - on roughly about 40% of the content I throw at it. Stuff like Dragonball Z actually created some popout of the screen, but the 3D seemed weird - like you had these big huge bodies and little bitty heads. The depth rendering was clearly off, but the FAQs on their website DOES state that 2D animation may not render properly.Apparently neither does anything with a noisy background. For example, if you have bookshelves in the background, an audience (ie sporting event), or like a dance competition where they are dancing in front of a graphic, these render strange. Like the dance competition, it tried to render the background graphic at different distances from the screen, than it like had no place to put the foreground objects - to the point that foreground objects sometimes seemed to appear BEHIND background objects. It was really strange. And sporting events sometimes make it appear that people are walking on other people's heads. Kinda strange. Bookshelves in a non-moving shot tend to cause that weird wavy effect I was talking about above. However, the device DOES work pretty well, particularly on Youtube videos shot in HD. Gymnastic events - particularly if you are looking at the floor or the beam from a slight angle, work really well (does not look good if you are looking straight on). If they are performing in a gym, this looks really good. Ends of balance beams stick out of the screens, and it looks like you can reach out and touch the girls. Dance competitions where the camera is off looking at the stage from a side angle in the audience (rather than being filmed straight on from the back of an auditorium) look fantastic (if there is not a noisy backdrop). Videos filmed outside look great. The best looking videos tend to come from videos that have a bit of "shake" in them. I guess this helps the device determine distance.I also tried this on an old B movie - Santa Claus Conquours the Martians. This actually looked pretty good, for the most part. There was certainly depth, although it seemed to be slightly off. What really surprised me, though, was that the opening menu, which had video playing inside of a static frame, ojects that were static appeared in 3D. In fact, they actually seemed to pop out past my center speaker that sits on the tv stand in front of my television. So does it work? Yeah, on some stuff. Does it work better than some of the built-in features on some sets? Eh, yeah, I guess. My set and player do not have 2D to 3D conversion built in, which is why I picked it up in the first place.I am going to test it some more. At least you can turn the 3D on and off, and manually adjust it. It seems a bit pricey for what it does. If the 3D was a bit more consistent, and didn't produce those weird "waves", I would give it a higher rating. On the stuff it works on, it works REALLY well, but as I said, that is really about only 40% of what I have thrown at it, everyything else just looks weird.

Delightfully surprised
I was skeptical about this product, but I love 3D and wanted it to work. IT DID! However, not with my JVC Projector, and a few others might find the same problem. PATIENCE. The manufacurer will solve this incompatibility issue with a few display devices. Using the 3D Bee with a flat screen TV, the 3D images were, well, to be honest, they weren't "Avatar", but they were better than some of the 3D out there, and much better than I expected, adding depth and perspective to Blu Ray source material not achieved with the built-in converters I've seen on some 3D tv's.This converter box would probably be worth the money to most of us with 3D display devices, but it depends on what the customer expects from such a device. Trying the unit with Hi Def cable, computer games, and other quality video signals produced very good 3D effects. The better the input quality, the better the results. Some DVD material did not look that good, while other DVD sources looked quite good.

3D-Bee Diamond and Platinum 2D to 3D converters
Home theater set up: Optoma HD3300 3D projector, Denon AVR 1912 3D projector, monster ultimate high speed hdmi cables 15.8 Gbps (you can go with a lower price but make sure is hdmi 1.4, monster does provide cable for life for future tech upgrades, speeds, etc.), xbox 360, ps3, apple tv.Ordered the platinum bee first. Worked great.i installed all components to hdmi in ports of the bee, hdmi out port of the bee to receiver's bluray player hdmi in and receiver goes to projector.no issues of any kind powering up and experimenting with settings in all sources.once bee platinum is on 3D mode, you must turn 3D mode side by side in projector. All sources looked great.reading about the bee specifications i learned about the diamond, upgraded and newer 3D engine and 12 3D settings against only 6 in the platinum.changed the platinum for the diamond. Thanks amazon for your outstanding hassle free return, refund and product substitution strategies.it keeps me coming back with no fear or stress.First diamond bee was used and defective. sent back and finally got a new, working one two days later. For my surprise all components worked as expected, but not the ps3. To make it work i had to lower the hdmi display resolution by unchecking 1080i and 1080p modes. Left only 720p checked.right away all was right on track.Something in favor of the diamond i did not have to turn on the 3D sbs mode on the projector.it did it automatically.platinum bee you have to do it yourself.the 12 settings available for movies, gaming, sports and pop up are a great add on.you can increase and decrease viewing depth and distance to your preference.needless to say, for those of you with negative reviews regarding the Bee 3D converters complaining of no out of screen 3D, stereoscopic 3D will not give us the "out of screen" jumping effect we get in movie theaters, instead stereoscopic focuses on 3 dimensional effect similar to seeing real life space and depth visual perception such as back, middle and front locations of objects. Elements such as mist, clouds, fire, snow, water, etc. will result on that out of screen visualization.Still with settings all the way high for 3D in popup and movie+ settings, in addition to moving the chair a couple of feet closer to the screen, i achieved good jumping out of screen effects with God of War Ascension, Darksiders 2 and just finished watching Star wars return of the jedi. ET, Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind and Jurassic Park are next. The Starwars bluray movie indicated a resolution of 1080p 24Hz in the display when it began playing despite unchecking this setting on the ps3 for the Bee harmonious compatibility and hand shake to happen.I do compare the 2D/3D conversion of both Platinum and Diamond Bees to the conversion provided by my LG 3D plasma tv in the family room.with apple tv, same satisfactory outcome. Music videos through my sony vaio laptop using youtube, also as good as the LG 3D tv conversion. So if your like me, going through frustration and anger episodes with Sony after they got me all addicted to 3D and a year later they stopped producing video games in 3D like they should. if you also feel like an idiot Sony took advantage of, dont give up. make the best of your investment and trust me, you will not be dissapointed in any way with either Bee Platinum or Diamond.if you do have a home theater room with a 3D projector, i highly recomment the Diamond for the additional settings and customizable areas which will work great with a projector such as the optoma HD3300. The HD3300 is an alternative for the tech savy audience who enjoy experimenting with all the manual settings the unit offers. you can adjust color, tint, contrast, whites, blacks, etc. manually. the Bee Diamond provides similar window of experimentation and infinite combinations of settings to play with if you enjoy teasing your brain with new tech toys.if you rather have the factory programmed settings and less discovery, the platinum bee is a better choice for you.Either alternative, my respects and applause to VEFXi Corporation for thinking about the consumer by providing an honorable, reliable, honest, truthful and accessible option letting us take fulll advantage of the money we spent on these gadgets. many times with a lot of work and sacrifice!!! Thanks 3D-Bee, thanks Amazon for the consistant and full empathy manner in which you also take care of us as consumers, and shame on you SONY along with all the game developers who suddenly decided 3D conversion was too much work, a waist of time and a waist of money!!! At least some companies out there do think about our money spent. You have much to learn about empathy and ethics from Amazon and VEFXi, especially during these harsh times for many businesses and families.
