The #1 Opera Album

Had to return because it arrived with the case broken but I’ve loved this cd music since released

It replaced my original set when skipping became obnoxious. This one came with a destroyed case but the CDs are fine.

I bought this because I thought it was maybe time to add a little culture and class to my life for a change. Seriously, I have always said that I "hated" opera music. However, every now and then I would hear something that I would like on TV or somewhere. I decided to try to find a "best of" opera album and that's how I found this CD. I do like it. I don't love every single track on it but I like most of it. I find it relaxing and certainly something different for a change. In fact, I get a kick out of playing it in my car and then (at a stoplight for example) watching other people's reaction to this kind of music. It sure isn't what they are used to hearing coming out of someone else's car I guess. Anyway, all in all, if you are looking for some classical opera music and would just like to sample it, this is a pretty good CD for doing that. I would recommend it for someone like that. I am certainly not an expert on opera but I think it's good for a beginner to start learning how to appreciate opera.

The content of this 2 CD set is excellent. It includes orchestral excerpts as well as arias. Composers included are Bizet, Donizetti, Dvorak, Gounod, Mascagni, Mozart, Offenbach. Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, and Wagner. The price of the Decca set is/was $13.73.The warning is that the identical content is available from Amazon on a London 2 CD set, entitled "The Greatest Opera Show on Earth," for $2.99.I ordered both at the same time (alas, I did not check the contents closely enough), opened both upon their arrival, and only then discovered the exact same content (selections, artists, sequence on the CDs, individual and total times, etc.).I got permission to return the more expensive Decca set, but was then notified that I would only receive a credit of $3.88, because of a "Return Shipping Fee Refund Deduction" of $2.98, plus a "Restocking Fee Refund Deduction" of $6.87.I feel that Amazon was delinquent/remiss in offering CD sets which had exactly identical content, but with different titles and (significantly!) different prices.Please don't make the same mistake I did. If you want the (excellent) content which these sets carry, order the London selection at $2.99.

I've attended a few live operas, but am not really a fan. however, I am a fan of anyone who has an operatic voice, even if I don't understand a word. That's how I first got interested in classical music. Whether you are or aren't an opera fan, this album provides the best recordings by the best performers of 40-some of the best arias ever. All of these performers and arias are exhilarating. You'll find yourself humming along and marveling at the majestic voices of these virtuosos. The #1 Opera Album is an aptly named item. AWESOME!

This compilation is really good. I love hearing the marvelous arias and listening to the great ones sing again.

I purchased this CD as a birthday gift for my sister. Because I personally know nothing about opera, I didn't know how to buy a single opera for her, or even which one she would like if I did know how to get it. So I settled on this "sampler" style Cd, and she just loved it. This is the best of the best of all opera arias and performances. My sister plays it all the time, and I think it is actually one of her favorite CDs. If you have a friend or family member who loves opera but you don't know anything about it, I can't recommend this CD enough.

This Opera Album is an essential part of my music library. It has all the most popular opera songs by the top composers. The record quality is good and I have spent many hours listening to this beautiful compilation.I just listened to this disc set again and it totally puts me into a peaceful state of mind.From the Flower Duet to The Barber of Seville, all the songs on this set are great!I can not say enough about this disc set!

This is a set of two discs of popular opera songs. It is particularly suitable to those who are new to opera music. The product is of high quality and the selection of songs is appropriate. I am happy with this purchase.

Bien, bon enregistrements, bon éventail d'opéras.Mais j'aurais aimé l'avoir en vinyle, on y gagnerait pus d'émotion.
