I bought this for a project I've been doing at my house, running wires for a home theater system through existing walls. I was planning on using it to drill a few difficult locations. One was through the top plate on my wall, the other was through the joists on the ceiling to push the wire through. Well, for the top plate, the wall was an exterior wall and had insulation in it. I tried to use this to drill up through the plate in the wall, but it just got caught up in the insulation. I was also using a bumper ball and placement tool. So that didn't work, I ended up cutting a hole in the ceiling and drilling down from above. As for drilling through the joists, turns out I didn't need to. I didn't realize I have engineered truss-style joists in my ceiling, so no drilling necessary. So in the end I didn't need this bit. But I will say it is very good quality and not too hard to use from what I've seen, so for that I will give it five stars. I will recommend you get the placement tool if you're using it on existing walls. The placement tool is very useful for getting a vertical hole (and not drilling through your siding). I almost wish I needed this bit for something. Oh well, I will save it for another project.

I really liked this bit until it got caught on a stainless steel plate the was in the material i was drilling. the hole in the shaft that goes into the drill was a weak spot and snapped off when the drill violently bucked at the steel as it tried to drill through the edge of that steel plate. I take the blame for the bit breaking, however, I wanted to share my experiance with others in case they might find it helpful. I still like the bit, just miss the ability to tie to the end of the shaft.

My wife got this for me with the understanding that i would get a new tool and she would get an outlet on her side of the bed. Well 30 minutes later she had a new outlet on her side of the bed and I have a quality tool to use on other jobs. I am so glad that i got the 3/4 bit. most building codes state no more than 1/3 the dimension through a stud so this is code compliant. there is a small hole on the very top that allows for attaching a pull wire as well as the bottom where it chucks into the drill. one of the reviews said they broke off the tip of the drill but the customer service replaced it. luckily i haven't had to return it but if i did its nice to know that it is an option. most the time i chuck it into my 12v dewalt, yes you read that correct 12volt! just make sure to go slow. if your on the fence about getting this wait no longer.

Worked great to run some network cable and rg58 upstairs for my new TV and ps4. It cut through the 2x4 and subfloor with ease. It was well worth the cost vs cutting a large opening to make the hole with a spade bit and drill. If you are running several cables be sure to stager them on the fish tape as the hole is not that large. I ran 2 Ethernet cords and 1 rg58 at the same time without issue that way.

I am still in the process of running ethernet throughout my house, so I have only bored 10 holes with this so far. I can tell the bit is starting to get dull (going through 4" headers and footers for each hole is laborious even for my electric drill). The biggest issue I've had with this bit is the smooth shank. I have to crank my chuck key down with an unreasonable amount of force (more than I've ever had to, even for drilling through masonry) to stop the smooth shank from slipping in the drill. When you're up in the attic and its 150+F, the last thing you want is to have to pull your bit out and re-chuck it, let alone if it falls through wall. Note: This bit is obviously not designed for professionals. It is designed for people that have one specific project and are not looking for a $100 installer bit. It will likely last the duration of this project, but it will not have much usable life in the bit after that.

I wish I filmed this, but I was in my attic and was hard enough to get into the spot and very dark. but once I was setup and got the right spot I was able to drill the hole in just a few minutes. I am only a DYI'er and have only drilled a few holes in my own house but this new bit was by far the best and easiest. I just had to drill the hole, back it out once or twice and then I was through. really simple.

Perfect drill bit to drill a hole under concrete sidewalk to pass low-voltage outdoor electric wire. YouTube has videos on how to do it; simply dig a hole on each side of the sidewalk, bend the bit so it goes straight. It took me three tries until I saw the bit at the other end. Then, tie a nylon cord to the end of the drill bit and pull it out. Finally, tie your wire to the nylon cord and pull from the other side.

I have used this tool several times through fir joists and it performes really well. A required tool for any renovation or after constuction wire installation. (used it to run hardwired cameras and security.

Bought this for drilling floor joists for wiring new pot lights on our main floor - This bit is exactly what you need and appears to be excellent quality -As an Electrician I would highly recommend this bit over the big names (greenlee, GB and Irwin). A word of caution..... be very careful drilling what you can not see!!! Planning is very important!

Good bit! Took a while to get it going but after a few holes I noticed the cutting edge really open up. Now it just rips through 2x8 joists no problem. The steel is of high quality with no warping yet and the flat bit holder addition is a nice added touch.
