Works great with a new flint.
Works awesome. The flint is kinda week. I actually replaced the flint with a spare that I had for a zippo lighter. Works great. No more burning my fingers with a match or a lighter trying to get the flame to go up that hole while the gas is building up. Then you get a fireball coming out the top. We’ve all done it. Haha. Scares the crap out of the none campers. Nor just waiting to see how it holds up under the heat of constant use for nights on end while camping. I have a Coleman Dual Fuel. Approximately 20 years old. WELL USED!!! Since I can’t find the actual “Coleman Fuel” any more. I just use regular unleaded gasoline. Like I said we’ll see how this igniter holds up. So far so good. After reading other reviewers I’m adding to mine......... on my dual fuel it was hard to turn at first. I noticed it does have height adjustment. You’ll notice the top brass nut had a wire in one side and it is able to slide up and down a channel in the main body. Once you get it to the height above the Fuel tank where it’s comfortable for you to turn the striker knob, turn the brass nut about a quarter turn so that wire is no longer in the channel. That will lock the height. Even though it is still straight up and down. Then screw the chrome nut and washer on the bottom side. Pretty simple. Takes a minor amount of mechanical aptitude but I’m sure no more than someone who’s willing to spend the night outside without a cell phone to light their way. Haha.

Replaced identical old part with this
I removed the bracket as it didn't fit properly with it, and the original one I replaced didn't have one (parts were identical otherwise). I saw some reviews where people had issues with the bracket - you do NOT have to install the curved metal bracket!! It was a pretty easy install, basically you're just screwing it onto the lantern, and I tightened with a pair of pliers I had. The one I replaced was impossible to swap the flint inside (stripped or bent, not sure), and at first the new one wasn't striking, but after flicking it a few times it began to strike. We're done camping for this year, and I destroyed the last set of mantles I had when installing this so I won't have any updates until next year when we pull it all back out and I put the new mantles in.

Works fine once adjusted.
comes with extra flint inside twist knob.Extra easy to install on new or old models of lanterns if you read the instructions.I can not stress enough that once you install the device to the lantern frame, you must adjust the height of the striker rod to the center of the flint as if when sliding the strike arm up to strike position through the lantern lighting hole where striker is screwed in on newer coleman models. If you Don't adjust this spinning stiker center height to the flint arm center, you will NOT get sparks. Once you find the sweet spot, you must then tighten the screw in the finger knob with the knob against the outer tube of the lower striker arm. By following this instruction written here, when you slide the striker arm assembly up to strike position, the knob slides up flush to outer striker arm tube and holds striker to flint in the centered sweet spot when you spin the knob with a brisk twist.Another noteworthy thing is if you do not tighten the 2 hex bolts down in correct position to lantern frame the flint holder arm will spin all the way against the glass when you flick the striker knob... to prevent this, after installation and attachment of adjusted striker knob, loosen the her nuts a little and twist the brass (not the steel) hex nut to limit/position the swing of flint holder to not bump rhe glass when spun, then retirement the hex nuts fully.Probably none of the above will make any sense until after you have read the instructions l, seen diagram for your model and attempted assembly solely upon what the written Coleman instructions fail to also mention. When properly installed, this works with 1 or 2 brisk flicks of the striker arm knob every time it is slid up into lighting position near the mantles. When not installed with my extra notes you will regret the purchase almost immediately..... trust me on that ;)

For 4th of July (we live in the country) we used this to make a potato launcher. It was great fun and easy to assemble with simple PVC and this little magic striker.Hours of fun entertainment with a bottle of hairspray as the igniter.

Coleman gas lantern igniter
I have been using a Colemen lantern spark igniter for 30 years. The original igniter finally looked like it was reaching the end of its years, although the lantern is still going strong, so I replaced it. The product hasn't changed in all of these years nor is there a reason for change. It is perfect! It simply bolts through an existing hole on your lantern and never has to be removed. I have never had a problem igniting the lantern. For me, the igniter has become a standard part of my lantern experience. And the price is so reasonable that there is no reason to be without it. Flint is the only consumable so have an extra piece handy when you are camping away from civilization.

DOES NOT SPARK EASILY
The flint is difficult to break in & unless you work with it (break in the flint), it won't work at all.

Coleman Spark Igniter installed on Otto Bernz Smelter
The media could not be loaded. I decided to install this Coleman spark igniter on my restored Otto Bernz smelter. It works great. Saves me from back flame explosion when preheating or lighting. Great quality for such a cheap price. It's sturdy, spark is really pronounced and it was very easy to install. Arrived on time. No regrets here! 👍🏾

Know before you buy
Propane and liquid fuel lantern are NOT all compatible for installation of the Coleman sparker igniter. Things like heat shields, angle of the base, etc. which prevent the striker igniter to get near enough to the mantle to ignite the fuel/propane gas.
