Do NOT purchase this item. When I saw these listed, they looked similar to one I've had for more than 10 years (made by Hitachi/Metabo) that finally wore out. I ordered a pair of them. They arrived the other day and I put them to work. I've used the 'bit holder' for both screwdriver bits and drill bits so that I can change from drilling to driving quickly. I mounted the holder to my DeWalt drill/driver, then inserted a drill bit. It seemed to hold the bit tightly and I started drilling some holes. Here's where the first issue arose. When I went to back-out the drill bit, it 'released' from the holder, so I had to remove the bit by hand. Tried the next hole...same result...so I removed the holder and attached the bit directly to my drill. I reattached the holder to my drill, then attached a magnetic screwdriver bit holder to install the screws. Here's where the second issue arose. When I pressed the drill hard (to hold the bit onto the screw head) as I screwed-in some 2 1/2" coarse thread drywall screws, the bit holder base sunk down into the holder assembly and wouldn't come out. I ended up using a couple pairs of vise grip pliers to pull the bit holder out from the holder housing. I've now tossed these holders in the trash and will be ordering another brand...one that will meet my needs.

I wanted a quick-change hex-shank bit holder that was shorter than what is commonly used so this is what I chose. It doesn't work for me for 2 reasons: 1 - it will not hold a short screwdriver bit (1 inch). My other, longer, quick-release holders have no problem with such bits. 2 - I'm using this primarily to be able to go from drilling pilot holes with hex-shank bits to putting screws in those holes with a Phillips bit. As stated, the 1-inch Phillip bits don't work with this and the long hex-shank drill bits do not rotate true. They wobble. I have tried to correct these shortcomings many time with no success. At one point the spring inside the holder popped out along with the bit. It was easily re-inserted but it was just another thing that caused annoyance. These holders (I got a 2-pack) seem sturdy and well made but they just didn't work well in either of my 2 cordless drills.
