Very nice!
It didn't come with instructions, but was fairly simple to figure out on my own. I had it assembled in no time, and full of toys. Thick wood and sturdy, the color and finish are nice as well. 10/10 would buy again.

Well packaged. Easy to assemble. Top could be thicker.

Beware of substandard quality and potential safety hazard.
Please let me preface this review by admitting I rarely share my opinion even though I am an avid Amazon shopper. Working full time in Social Services with a long commute and two small children, I simply have to prioritize my time and writing reviews has not been one of those priorities. Today, I have taken the time to write because I wanted to warn other potential buyers of the substandard quality associated with this particular toy box.We purchased this KidKraft toy box and intended to use it as a gift from Santa for our one-year-old daughter. We had planned to fill it with a variety of toys for her to open on Christmas morning. We have previously purchased two toy boxes manufactured by KidKraft and purchased both of them on Amazon for our three-year-old son. There were never issues with quality. (However, we had not purchased this particular style/finish in the past.)I read all of the reviews for this product. (Yes. I consistently read reviews but don't contribute like I should.) The general consensus was that this was a quality product with a reasonable price. I only read one review that indicated there were quality issues. I should have paid more attention to that particular review because I could have avoided this nightmare. He wasn't fooling!Late on Christmas Eve 2010, we opened the packaging and began assembling the toy box. Immediately, I noticed the "cherry finish" was shoddy and looked like it had been sprayed on inconsistently. It was also more of a brown color than a cherry finish. But, since Christmas morning was just hours away, I decided I could accept the finish discrepancy. I then noticed the toy box was manufactured with poor quality particle board...not what I had expected from an "all-wood" product. I was getting a bit perturbed but thought I might be able to live with particle board as long as the toy box served its purpose of safely containing toys. We then started to assemble the toy box. What a nightmare! The screws went straight through the particular board and into what would become the inside of the toy box. (Her father is a seasoned professional contractor and had assembled the other two KidKraft toy boxes.)The sharp screw tips protruded into the interior of the toy box and were an unquestionable safety hazard to anyone using toy box. The particle board disintegrated around the screws and actually began to splinter off. The joints were also substandard. In my opinion, the toy box would not withstand regular usage or the weight of a child. At this point, I demanded we stop the assembly process and start wrapping all of the intended contents. I could not give my child a gift that would unquestionably cause her harm. I immediately accessed Amazon and requested to return the item due to is being defective and thus, a safety hazard. Please take heed before purchasing this item. There are other KidKraft toy boxes out there that are of much better quality and in the same price range. This particular model is of substandard quality and is a potential safety hazard. It needs to be recalled. Beware.

Awesome box
I bought this toy box for my 2 year old neice. I haven't given it to her yet, but i am sure she will like it. This review is more about the company of KidKraft than it is the product. Wile i was putting it together one of the "lid support" peices, or hinge, broke and I was unable to fix it. Plus by my own admission, I scratched one side of it beyond repair and needed replacement. After seaking with the KidKraft rep and learning what numbers i need to provide them, i called them up to tell them i needed parts. What they didn't tell me when i bought it is that every part is under a 90 day warrenty even if it's fault of the damage. I am recieveing 2 replacemnt parts for no charge that will be in here in what they said would be 3 to 5 days. I am extraordianry pleased witht he company of KidKraft and would buy from them again. Now for the review of the box. Other uses had reviewed that the cherry finish is shoddy and looks "fake". Not mine. The finish is lovely and the quality is great. It isn't wood, if thats what your expecting. More of a laminate over heavy duty cardboard. But still very good quality. The size is great, very roomy and bigger than i would have expected. Over all i give 5 stars-but it's worth 6 stars. Especially witht he company standing behind it so very well.Great Job!

Takes two to assemble
I chose this toy chest over one half the price expecting quality and ease at assembly, not the case. Unboxed the parts and noticed a dent in the front panel . Decided against returning it as it was super heavy and packed in the box like sardines. It would have been a nightmare to repack and resend. Assembly directions were horrible unless you can just look at the pictures and guess. After an hour I got this together accept for the top with the soft close safety cams. That is where it became ridiculous as you have to tighten a bolt while holding a nut with their cheap two inch wrench and balance the lid open with your head. Unbelievable! This last step was a two person task but unfortunately I was unable to get an assist. The plastic handle guards are cheap and don't fit together well.Should have bought the cheapo toy chest and saved half my money. Not happy
