Good Value
I bought this engraver for wood carving. I looked at another one that Amazon was advertising. It costs more and requires an app. I looked at another popular one that has good reviews but costs 3 times as much as this one. Some people complained that engravers do not have enough power, but for very fine work, you need something small and practical. So why did I buy this engraver: I wanted a battery powered and cord-free tool. I have other power carvers for most of the carving I do. This engraver allows me to carve the very fine details of eyes and fits the hand comfortably like a pen without an annoying cord attached. It's quiet with 3 speed and I had no trouble with it doing accents to eyelids and pupils. It comes with a substantial selection of different bit shapes. The grit is very fine also. For me, this was very affordable with a reasonable price. Since I won't be giving this tool a lot of use, as compared to my other rotary carvers, the cost is a bargain. Now, I hope that it will last. Update: I discovered that a few bits do not fit well inside the chuck. I removed the set bolt to make sure of the fit. I determined that a few of the bits need a little sanding to provide a smoother surface. Also the metal on the inside of the chuck may have had a little burr protruding. I used a bit from the set, by hand, to smooth out the inside of the chuck. 600 grit sandpaper smoothed out the bits. This was just a small annoyance to an otherwise well-functioning tool.Update 2: Compared to reviews for more expensive engravers, this one performs well for me. It's still a great value for the $$. I would like one with a little more power, but so far, I haven't found any.
