I had one of my Unifi access points die on me. and at $100+ a whack, I wasn't about to sink more money into a system I was beginning to dislike. So I went shopping. I have had a MikroTik mAP for a long time, it has run reliably and never needed anything from me except for me to pay the electric bill. So I was already sold on the MikroTik product. I went to their website and did some research, and landed on this access point. It is super configurable and dead reliable. This isn't the kind of home equipment you might buy from linksys or netgear, this is a true enterprise grade access point.MikroTik has their own software that runs on windows for discovering and initial configuration of this access point. Once initially configured, you can use the web portal to make any and all changes you need. If you are a Mac only person, check out Winbox4mac it is a wine emulated version. This AP comes with the Round and the squarish cover. I haven't attempted to swap them as I like the smoke detector look.If you are looking for an access point that is solid and functional, you don't mind doing a little configuration (or you are looking for uber configurability) then this is the one for you.
