Stylish and Fun Fashions of the Roaring '20s – designs printed on one side of perforated paper
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I love Ming-Ju Sun's fashion coloring books from Creative Haven and from Dover. Her books cover a range of modern to futuristic and, most importantly, historic fashions. In “Jazz Age Fashions” the focus is on the Roaring '20s. It was during this period of time that Jazz music came to the forefront. The womens fashion of the period were designed with the thought of dancing in mind and, with shorter skirts and less restrictive lines, also reflected the changing role and empowerment of women that was going on in society. It was a glamorous period and one which is beautifully captured in the 31 Designs in this coloring book. Each of the designs have one or more women dressed in very detailed clothing. The backgrounds are fairly simple to make the fashions stand out.I noticed that the feel of the paper is slightly rougher than other Creative Haven books I have ordered in this last six months or so. I like the new texture as it is even better for use with colored pencils. This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Fun Jazz Age, Flapper-style designsThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly rough and has perforated pages.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple. The designs stop well before the perforations and each of the designs has a framing line at the outer edge for a defined stopping point for coloring (though some elements on some designs extend slightly beyond the framing line to give a slight 3-D effect.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper and even better than many of the more recent Creative Haven coloring books I have bought. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.

Not two sided, but wise to use cardboard under page you are coloring.
I love the illustrations in this coloring book, and have already enjoyed some very good relaxation while coloring. Because I am using colored pencils, they do cause some shadowing on the back of the image. Then there is a danger of it smearing onto the next image. Just use a piece of thin cardboard (I use a discarded cover of a spiral notebook) to protect that next image. It is essential to maintain the quality of your coloring if you are using sharpened colored pencils. It is most definitely a fun coloring book!

Color Me Happy
Another winner from Ming-Ju Sun ... great illustrations of a time gone by! I have become addicted to these fashion books, and it encourages me to be daring in my color choices. I generally color one a day .... but often can't put the book down and turn out another. Great pastime for me as I'm 80 years old and this takes me back to a fun time in history. Keep 'em coming!

Beautiful Drawings!!!
Nice book filled with many women's fashions! Love the artistry and detail! The problem is that there are NO men featured at all. No men, boys, male fashions at all! If you are are looking for both genders, this is not the book for you. I purchased this for a Gatsby unit at my high school, and there are better coloring books for the Gatsby wall or projects. Just say'n....

5 Stars
I love the whole line by Ming-My Sun so much that I've ordered the same coloring books several times (it's fun to see how many different color combos you can come up with). The paper is great quality so that colored pencils glide smoothly, and each page is single side printed. I will definitely be ordering more!!

Color Me Perfect
I like this series of coloring books because the pictures aren't made up of little tiny components; they have details but are fairly large so that you don't have to concentrate so hard to color them. The drawings are nice. The person who designed these books has a good eye for features and fashion. I really enjoy coloring them.

High Quality
First of all, the pages are thick and perforated. Hallelujah! I have had other coloring books that my markers bleed through to the next page or whatever I'm using as a surface and those are the ones that it is very difficult to tear the pages out of the binding. Second, the drawings are great and it's fun to imagine people of the jazz age wearing these outfits.

31 Twenties style elegant fashionable ladies to colour
This book is filled with amazing and really beautiful designs of elegant ladies in 1920 style outfits. Most of the pages have one lady per page but there are 4 with two ladies on one page. There is one picture with a lady and two young girls. Each of the 31 different pictures has a frame around the design. The pages are all perforated which makes it easy to remove the pages. They are all printed on the right hand side of the book and the left hand side is blank. The paper feels slightly thicker than regular 80 gram paper and is white in colour with black printing. Most of the designs are of slim ladies in costumes typically worn in 1920 and around the ladies are leaves, butterflies and flowers. The inside covers have examples of pictures that have been coloured as well as the front cover and the pack cover. These colours give an idea of the colours that work well with designs from that era.I coloured in one of the pictures using alcohol pens and the ink bleeds through to the other side. It is best to put a piece of cardboard behind the one you colour so it does not bleed through to the other side. If you are using regular colouring pencils then you would not need to do this.I will colour in another picture using colouring pencils as I think this book would be easier to colour using finely sharpened pencils. The ladies in the pictures are all very elegant and the costumes could be coloured in many different colour choices. This book is very nice and I really like it very much. It will add more photographs when I have coloured in more but for now I am just adding the one I have coloured so far.

Super
I bought my 91 year old Mum this one for Christmas and it has become a favourite. So much so that I want to buy one myself. Designs are exquisite, no harsh black lines, page thickness good. I would highly recommend to colouring addicts.

A lovely book of fashions
If, like me, you love colouring fashion models, then this is one book you should buy. I love twenties clothes, and this book has a great selection. I have a few of Ming-Ju Sun's books, and they are always a pleasure to colour. I am very pleased with this purchase.
