Educational Insights Hot Dots Math Flash Cards- Multiplication

So I loved the idea of not having to always help with flash cards, but my 8 year old is to smart. The answer choices are all in order, so if it is 8x5 the answer choices are 0, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80. So he figured out he can just count down and get the correct answer. :( Hopefully he is at least looking at the answers and reading to count by 8s!

My 8 year old daughter has been struggling to learn her multiplication tables. She loved this product....for the first few days. And I do think it helped her a little bit. However, after a few days of repeatedly using the cards, she admitted she had memorized the location of the "correct dot". To further clarify, she memorized the location of the actual "dot"...not the numerical answer. I think it was more muscle memory taking her to the correct "dot", rather than her looking at the numerical options. After one week, we decided to discontinue use and found an "app" better suited to her learning.

Hot Dots are a fantastic resource for teachers. I use them in the classroom during my workshop time. Students use them independently at one of their stations, and I know it will keep them busy and learning at the same time. I have so many of them for reading and math, and my students love them. I teach special education, so they are great to use to reinforce skills that they missed along the way. The pens are great, because you can put them on silent mode and just use the red or green light to show if they are correct. That way you're not disrupting the rest of your stations in the room. If you need something for independent work, I highly suggest getting these!

Multiplication cards I received don’t work with Hot Dots pen. Tells him the correct answer is wrong no matter how you angle it, defeating the purpose of me buying them for independent practice.

My daughter wasn’t feeling as confident as she hoped with her multiplication facts. This allows her to practice independently whenever she wants. It’s a great tool that is helping her feel more confident in her proficiency of multiplication and is also great for when I can’t work with her with standard flash cards.

I brought this for my granddaughter for Christmas and it is great for teaching math. She loves it and have fun playing with it!!!! It gives and extra bust in learning More about math!!!

Great idea. Is incorrect about half time even with carefully placing pen according to instructions.

PLEASE READ!!! don't forget to get pen... because I end up showing this to my girl didn't realize that it needed the pen.. when she opened it and she couldn't use it she had a fit.. so order the pen with it... besides that its a great learning product we really enjoy it she uses it every day we love the way it works..
