Before you jump to the conclusion your base station has gone bad...
So, as for what I received, it works great, as advertised. An excellent version 2 replacement. The conditions that led me to ordering this were kind of silly, though. One of my base stations was no longer tracking correctly, and debugging the hardware, fiddling with the mounts and angles, and removing other light sources from the room did nothing to help. So I sent it to the HTC repair center, but now I don't know when to expect it back, so ended up just ordering another one from here to keep things moving. Kind of annoyed by that, but whatever.Imagine my surprise when hooking up the replacement, it was having the same tracking issues. I eventually figured out that there was an environmental factor I hadn't been considering: some framed pictures were put on the wall near the play area recently, and their reflective plexiglass was seriously messing with the invisible lasers that the base stations use. After they were removed from the area, everything worked fine. If you're having tracking issues, consider looking for potentially reflective surfaces rather than jumping to the wrong conclusion like I did, and that includes anything, not just mirrors.

Amazing works exactly as intended
I’ve been playing VR for about 2-3 years now and the base stations do exactly as they’re intended, they’re extremely easy to set up and in my experience they have decent durability considering one of my wallmounts had an issue of falling off the wall occasionally due to me using an alternative version that doesn’t require drilling into the walls and the base station sustained no damage and still worked perfectly fine though I do have carpet floors so results may be different when dropped on hard floorsOnly thing to remember though is only have them plugged in during VR sessions and when you’re done unplug them, I made the mistake of leaving one of my base stations on for an extremely long period of time which burnt out one of the lights or whatever on the inside which is required for it to function which lead to me having to buy a replacement for itAlso you can play VR with just one singular base station however it’s extremely restricted in how much you can move around your playspace since you have to stay facing the in the base station’s direction the entire time, so i’d heavily recommend getting at least 2 of them which will allow you to at the very least have basic 360 degree tracking allowing you to move however you want as long as you’re still within both the base station’s view. And you can go up to 4 base stations if you have a big enough play area in order to get the maximum quality tracking ingame as possibleOverall an amazing product despite being a bit pricey

Wow there's a lot to unpack here.
These are fantastic for what they are but this generation does not work in compatibility with the first generation of base stations. These are a mid cycle refresh with a different led pattern and seemingly better tracking than my 2016 vive bs, but there was zero indication on this site that they would not be compatible, if you have the first gen Vive and need to replace one of your base stations you should get it repaired through HTC, because I bought this one I had to buy a second one to get a full setup working and now I have a useless base station sitting on my table. This does track what seems to be noticeably better than the first generation so I guess that's good but I still would rather have only bought one given there listed as the same product. I have a pretty huge room scale setup and they do the job well, there are basically no dead zones or problems tracking once you go through the hassle of getting it set up which for me required a lot of waiting since I had to buy another one. At least they work really well individually since I'm sure some folks will be in the same situation as me but not have the funds to get the second one

Don't bother, won't buy again.. Wish I had gotten something else!!!
For the amount of money the whole system costs, it's crazy flaky and buggy.I've had the thing for about a week and out of the 10 times I went to use it 3 times did it start up with not having to find the headset or to find out the battery died for the controllers or the head set couldn't find them. At least the controllers have a charge port.. but Why do the batteries die when not in use? I've had to charge the controllers more often than I actually used the thing because the few times I went to use it, the batteries where dead. Then after they were charged. I had to waste another 20 minutes trying to pair them. For a system over $1,000 it needs to be on right away, all the time consistently. It needs to be working even when it's off to be ready at a moments notice. If this thing was one of my employees, I would have fired them.

Before you buy
This base station doesn't work at the same time as a 2.0 base station so if you are planning to buy this base station to work with a 2.0 then it will not work other than that it works fine and it comes with exactly what was told in the features
