I have and installed over 30 foscam cameras. This was a easy setup with QR code and picture is crisp and clear compared to R2 i replaced. They work with Foscam android app and tiny cam pro.

I first had the HD model of the same camera and liked it for the ability to upload to a custom FTP, taking storage into personal cloud. Got 4K version, and some things were buggy. Nevermind the fact that USB-C unplugs if you wiggle it a little. Clearly a bad connection somewhere. When initialized, the camera sometimes does not return to the home position. It'll be off vertically, often significantly. Software could take a lesson from Blink cameras, because the simplest functions like arming and disarming (putting to sleep mode) should be 2 clicks away. There should be ability to review internal footage without having to turn the camera on. In top of physical quality and features, the camera is top notch, but the software must've been written by monkeys.

Very easy to hookup and has a excellent picture. Very happy with this purchase. Work's great if you have to use a 5g router. This was the only reason i got it. Was to replace a older one that could not pair up to the new router. Update - 1/2021. The camera stopped working a few months back. Keep letting me know thee was a update needed. Never could get the update to take, always failed. The web sight was no help. wanted you do download to a zip file, etc then do a micro sd card, etc. UGH. finally figured out to hard wire it up to my router and then after it paired up used the app on my phone for the software update. BINGO it worked like it should. Magic

The camera so far is working well. It would be nice if it had color night vision, but the clarity is good. The ability to do FTP of files to our remote server is a huge plus, and most indoor wifi cameras don't have this feature. It is one of the main reasons we bought the camera. It's also nice that it can use the 5Ghz band in addition to the 2.4. Set up was pretty easy - we had to do an override by using the VMS computer application to use 'admin' as a user name because the phone app won't allow it. Also it is strange they only allow 12 characters for a password, which is incredibly short. All in all it is working well for us so far.

Use this with BlueIris and 9 other Foscams + an Amcrest. This Foscam R4 worked like it should for a year, then it started to just show black and white images intermittently. When it was close to 2 years in age it has only B/W image and just stops showing image, but responds to setup/reboot commands. After rebooting it works for a couple days. May have to setup a timer on this one also, like 2 other Foscams that need power cycle twice a days for 5-10 minutes each time. They come back and work fine for the 12 hours between power cycles. Update: Jan 2024 - No longer flaky - now dead after 2 years...
