Keto-Green 16: The Fat-Burning Power of Ketogenic Eating + The Nourishing Strength of Alkaline Foods = Rapid Weight Loss and Hormone Balance

Lifechanging.
7 weeks in, down 22 pounds. Energy better and I feel better than I have in years. I've done traditional keto for over 2 years, and this is a superior version of keto. The alkalinization part balances hormones like cortisol and insulin. It does allow more carbs than traditional keto - and yes traditional keto-ers might freak out at the carbs. But they are from greens and veggies, not sugars. Only specific carbs are included not all and only low amounts which keep it keto. The carbs are still limited, refined grains, sugars and processed foods still off the table. Combine paleo and keto - whole real foods that grow. Now addressing comments regarding products. These folks have not read the books. There are over 200 recipies 10-12 are smoothies that include a protein powder either Dr. Annas OR OTHER. There are a good number of smoothie recipes with no protein powder. I'm not sure what the agenda is behind these comments but there is just no truth to them. I started out with the kindle version but love the recipies so much I came back and hit the hard copy also. A lot of people are having amazing results with this. If you want to feel better, lose weight, balance hormones, sleep better, and have more energy this is a lifestyle you might consider seriously. Oh, also the book recommends lifestyle changes since 75% is lifestyle and 25% is diet...if you know keto Mark Sisson also teaches this, his big ass salads are in line with this. He is also endorses Dr. Annas approach...his approach is the closest of the traditional keto plans to this. I still use his books and recommend them as well. If you are stuck in your progress with keto you need to learn what Dr. Anna teaches. If you are female with any hormonal issues you need this information.

Healthy lifestyle eating...
I enjoyed the book. It is a very healthy way to eat but unfortunately for me not a very effective plan for weight loss. I purchased the Keto Green 16 starter Kit which arrived before the book so I decided to follow Dr. Cabeca’s recommendation to start the day with Mighty Maca and have the Keto Green meal replacement for lunch for quicker weight loss. For dinner I had protein and a cruciferous vegetable or salad for supper. I also made sure to drink 64 ounces of water each day. In addition I walked between 4 and 5 miles every day. I tested with the keto strips and was in moderate to large keto but could not achieve an alkaline ph without the use of baking soda despite eating a lot of dark leafy greens. After 16 days I had lost only 2 pounds! I was hoping this would be a way to get off the last few stubborn pounds around my waist. I really don’t know what else I can do. I have continued to eat this way because It makes sense from a health standpoint. I’ve also enjoyed some of the recipes included in the book. If you are looking for a healthy way to eat and not be hungry, this is an excellent book. Just not the panacea I was hoping for...

Nutritionally Sound
Dr. Anna has done a very good job of explaining her Keto plan, and you can do it without purchasing any of her products. Sometimes when authors insist you have to buy their products to be on a program, it seems like they are just in it for the money. But really, in reading this book, it is full of good nutritional information. My sister did a Keto diet a couple of years ago and she had all packaged mixes and it cost her thousands of dollars. This plan, even if you purchase all the products, only costs about $100 for the book and the products. Of course, you have to buy your own food, but that's what's great about it. You get to make all your own choices within the parameters of the Keto Green 16 plan. There are recipes and an exercise program to follow as well. I have not yet begun the program, as I am gathering all my supplies before I start, but I'm confident from reading the book that, even if I didn't lose a lot of weight (which I think will be up to how compliant I am with the program) I will be eating a much healthier diet and probably sleep better too. Thank you, Dr. Anna! I'm looking forward to the 16-day challenge later this month.

Solid Keto Book, Especially for Women.
The book is clear and is written in a supportive tone. There is a lot of information and extra resources. I went on the plan and followed it, making only her recipes in the first 10 days and then doing my own with the list of 16 foods on the plan. In general, I think the recipes were tasty - a few a little too fussy. The issues I had with the book is I never got clear about why Alkalinity was so important. I think that could have been better explained and backed up with research (I found conflicting info online). Also, outside of a couple days, I did not achieve alkalinity. Overall, the eating plan follows the same idea as many other keto/intermittent fasting books. It is a solid general healthy eating book and toolkit to refer to if you are using either to loose weight or just eat healthier. However, I’m not sure if I saw all of the benefits. I’m still using some of the recipes so that says something.

Most sensible way to eat and get balanced hormonally!
This book and way of eating has been a game changer! I was already incorporating the principles from Dr. Anna’s “The Hormone Fix” but only followed it like 80%, so I was really excited when this book was coming out as it seemed simpler for me to follow and I knew I was going to be able to participate along with her 16 day Online Challenge (private group) whereas as before I was too busy. I’m a slow burner and it took over a year to lose 18lbs, but I feel the healthiest I’ve been in ages and it’s the first weight loss that’s lasted in 15 years! Well.....fast forward....I just completed the 16 day challenge which I followed 98%. I lost 3 lbs! For me, this is huge plus I lost a little from my waist and hips. This is not a quick fix plan, but a lifestyle change and one I know I can maintain because bottom line, it’s just a healthy sensible way to eat whether you’re experiencing hormonal issues or not. It’s not just for women either even though that’s the main target but men will see results as well whether it’s weight loss or just improved health. Dr. Anna, her Team, and her FB group are just the best!

Looks informative BUT...
Just received my copy of the book and as I often do, I flick straight to the recipe section before I give the full contents a read. And my first impression is that many of the smoothie and drinks recipes list Dr Cabeca’s own brand of meal replacement shake powder as a key ingredient. This is more than a bit frustrating a) as I’m UK based so the cost of the products seems prohibitive and b) because this sort of thing to many is off-putting as it taps into the desperation that some feel to try anything to lose weight, look and feel better, so they’ll buy these expensive ingredient additions which just lines the pockets of the writer and grows their “brand”. In fairness she states that “any similar products” can be used, but from an initial bit of research, such products are few and far between. The info and the other recipes do indeed look good from a cursory look over them, but the blatant self-marketing to sell expensive own-brand products is instantly irritating!

Great book full of information and fab recipies
I have been doing keto for 1yr. First time I lost 4llbs first week (water) then 3llbs fat in 1 month (am a size 12, but you lose more the more body fat you are) I stayed eating reduced carbs but still some but when went back on it properly and was doing 'dirty keto' (butter, cream, cheese, steaks, limited veg etc) but didn't lose any weight for 3 weeks. Found the Ketotarian (another great book) and thought to make keto sustainable long term I need to eat more veg and fish etc. Then found this book which is meat and veg and based on a alkaline approach and fasting so thought would try. This is a great book full of information on hormones and why we gain weight and how to lose it. It takes a holistic approach, sleep, stress etc. Have dug my slow cooker out and been cooking the bone broth which is so delicious. This is one of the few books that includes fermented foods on Keto. Prof Tim Spector's Spoon Fed book and the gut doctor books confirms we should all be eating 30 different plants/nuts a week which is impossible to achieve on dirty keto. Our gut microbiome influences our weight and well being so more veg and fermented foods are essential. It's easy to get to 30 on the Keto Green 16 plan. She does include her own Keto Greens protein powder and Mighty Maca in some smoothie recipies but you only have the smoothies if you get hungry and can't do the full 16hr fast. So not strictly part of the 16 day plan. I just bought and used a complete maca powder and spirulina to add to the smoothie. Recipies aren't super complicated.. salmon and avocado salad.. but think its one of those plans where you need a few days to get all the ingredients planned out (I got everything in a large Sainsburys so not impossible, plus Amazon sells MCT oil and anything else and the urine ph strips and ketone strips). You don't have to have the strips but its a good idea and they are quite cheap £7 per tube of 125. Have also used a CGM (continuous blood glucose monitor Freestyle Libre) was fascinating. They are expensive in the UK £120 for 2 and they only last 14 days in your arm with the app (Levels is a good one or Supersapiens) I would plan on putting it in half way through the 16 day plan and then after 16 days when you start some carb ups (sweet potato, berries, quinoa, sourdough etc) then you can accurately see whether your blood glucose remains level or gets spiked. If you spike your body produces insulin which causes fat to be stored. So aiming for rolling hills after a meal not spikes. Good luck with your keto journey!

Selling herown products
Ive listened to this lady in podcasts and she talks a lot of sense but the book is a complete sell out, full of self advertising for her shakes and powders and totally focused on losing weight rather than health. There are better books out there that give you tools without trying to pressure you into buying their products and who go beyond the superficial focus of losing weight. And Im not sure whats so 'green' about it as there is still an unhealthy focus on meat as the source of protein. I think she would like to tink she's come up with something new but hasn't really. Will Cole's Ketoraian is much better.

US recipes that are quite simply unhealthy!
I found the suggestions that require people following this 'diet' to consume protein shakes and bacon to be quite unhealthy - not recommended at all!

You have to buy her supplements to make the recipes
There is ZERO new information in this book that can't be found online. Also, she pushes purchasing her powders and supplements from her website throughout the book and for most of the recipes. Great way to boost sales! So, unless you're willing to purchase her supplements directly from her website, save your money and time and just increase your greens consumption while following a conventional keto diet. Really frustrating to be told that the recipe ingredients can be purchased at the store EXCEPT for the main ingredients that can only be purchased from her website. I feel scammed.
