Super calculator, great improvement over paper printing!
I ordered this to replace my 10 year old Canon printing calculator that was getting problematic as it didn't always register numbers correctly and I got a lot of errors. I never really used the printing function exception very occasionally, but this non-printing calculator was a great find—I hadn't known it existed before. I've found the digital print screen to be quite useful and you can always see what you've just typed in, which is nice for double checking. I leave the little screen tilted up so I can see the numbers in a running list to confirm, which I really like a lot. There's an easy 3-step process to delete all the numbers on the screen when desired, which I always do when I'm done and about to shut it off. I recommend learning this process (not printed in the manual, unfortunately). Otherwise, it keeps in memory a running list up to 300 entries. The calculator has a slightly smaller footprint than my old Canon model, it weighs a lot less, and it's nice to get rid of the bulky paper roll holder and its weight hanging behind the calculator like with my old one, it turns on instantly (my old Canon took ages to start up), and the keys are easy and comfortable to push. There are a lot of great calculating functions if you bother to learn them all. It seems that Sharp is the only company with a "printing" screen like this. Great invention and very useful for most of us. I'm totally satisfied with this calculator, and would definitely buy it again despite the rather high price. To delete numbers from the screen: Press the "down arrow" button at the top right, then the button that says "2nd" in the top left area, then press the DELETE button (has delete all written above it). Weird series of actions, I can't imagine why Sharp didn't make it a one-step process that made sense!

Wow! This adding machine is awesome!
I thought the paperless adding machine couldn't be as good as it sounds. I was wrong. Not only does it keep your line items in memory, but you can scroll back and review your line items for accuracy if something is off. You can also delete or correct a line item that you entered incorrectly. You can also insert a line anywhere in your list. It's easy to read and being able to change the angle of the display will make it work for people of any height. It has the look and feel of a real adding machine because it is. It has all the standard functions of a typical adding machine and more. I didn't realize how much I missed having an adding machine until I got one again. Also, without paper and ink, it does not make a lot of noise like a paper and ink adding machine. This is a game changer in the adding machine field. This is the first model I've seen using digital paper, but I have a feeling we'll see many more models using this technology. The only two negative comments I have are: 1. Clearing the running tape is awkward. You have to hit the down arrow, shift, and then delete twice. And that's not in the instructions. Really weird move. The other is you are limited to 300 line items before it starts overwriting the oldest lines. If you are ever in a position where you find yourself having to add more than 300 numbers in one calculation, this is a problem. I don't have to add that many numbers, so it's not an issue for me. Fifteen years ago it would have been. I highly recommend this adding machine for anyone who makes serious calculations and it's not important to save the tape. If you are worried it won't feel like an adding machine, don't. You'll love the look and feel. And being able to correct one number in a 20 number calculation is amazing.

Awesome adding machine-not a calc!
Excellent. If you need an "ADDING MACHINE" this is for you. If you need a calculator, not so much. 15-20 stars .

Great improvement
had to replace a old sharp that i had been using for years. This is a compact, sturdy calc that is easy to read. It will just take a few weeks to get used to the fact some of the keys have been moved. I would buy it again.

Perfect!
I love this calckylator! I especially love that I don't have to deal with loading up, and running out of, paper or changing ink ribbons! Some reviewers posted pictures of a janky screen after touching it. If you touch it, it does do weird stuff, and will appear to be irreparably broken, but the screen will go back to normal after a few minutes. So don't fret. I do suggest, though, that you avoid touching the screen with your fingers. To clean it, wipe it ever so gently with a microfiber cloth. Also, to delete all your calculations in one fell swoop, scroll up a couple of times, press the 2nd key, then press the delete key. This will wipe everything out, taking you back to row 1. The instructions do not offer up this info. Happy calculating!

CPA Approved
I've been a CPA for over 40 years. I've used all kinds of adding machines from all different manufacturers. I've been searching for years for a machine like this one, but they never existed; until now. What I like about this model is that the keyboard is functional and easy to use, without a bunch of markup and markdown features I'd never use. I can easily enter numbers without looking because the layout is the same as on standard adding machines. This is an adding machine, not really a calculator. I love the blue display and I have no problems reading the "tape". I can easily go up and down to review my calculations and make any necessary corrections. Some complain about having to use a pen to push the reset button but I say, c'mon, how lazy can you be? You just push it with the tip of a pen or pencil and the machine is erased. The footprint is smaller than most tape type adding machines, which is a big plus when you have 3 monitors in front of you. The only negative I have is that the power cable could be longer, but it suits my needs fine. I'm such a nerd that I am actually looking forward to using this machine every day now!

Great Calculator and you can modify it to be portable (battery operation)
Love it. It does not operate via battery when you purchase it. But for a few dollars you can make a battery pack for it. The transformer puts out 6 volts so 4 AA batteries (1.5v each) will operate it. For general use, I am not sure how long the batteries will last, but I did leave the calculator on for 72 hours before the batteries went dead. I am ok with that. So to save batteries, I am using nicad rechargeable ones. All parts were purchased from Amazon. 2 items needed besides the batteries (plus velcro to hold the battery holder in place). The battery holder (Velleman BH342B Battery Holder for 4 x AA-Cell with Snap Terminals - $6) and the battery clip with plug (9v Battery Clip with 2.1mm X 5.5mm Male DC Plug for Arduino by Corpco - 5 for $6). One important thing to remember. In order to have it work, the batteries need to be inserted in the battery holder in reverse polarity. I placed a label in my battery holder (as shown) so I or anyone else would see that the batteries are inserted the proper way. A multi meter is a good tool to check if everything is wired correctly and I do recommend it. Use the meter to check the output of the transformer plug, and then check the output of the battery pack, make sure the polarity is the same. I have modified 3 for my office. No more ink or paper to buy. I am sure this mod voids any warranty. Please note that this is my mod for my use only, anyone doing the same is on their own.

Kalkulator nie działa na bateriach. Dlaczego tak się dzieje? Chcę zwrotu pieniędzy.
Kalkulator nie działa na bateriach. Założyłem nowe, ale nadal się nie włącza. Działa tylko po podłączeniu do prądu. Dlaczego tak się dzieje? Chcę zwrotu pieniędzy.

Impagabile
Consigliata
