Cool Water Products The Original Rod Holder Boat Flag Pole - No Flag (8 Foot)

Their flag pole is a quality pole, but I had issues with their flag pin attachments and their cap on top of the flag pole.When you put the flag pin holders on the flag pole, you have to snug down the phillips screw to tighten the holder sleeve. However, you cannot tighten the screw tight enough to secure it on the pole fully. So, when i put on the flags and took off on the boat, the pull of the wind pulled the pins up and knocked off the cap and the flags and pins flew off the flag pole while only running 24 mph. I looked at the other flag pole they sent (I purchased two) and it was not tight either. If you tightened it any more it would strip the plastic holder or go into the fiberglass pole. The pin holders are definitely a problem. I purchased some other flag poles and their flag holders were pre set and were tight with no slippage at all. They were totally secure at 48 mph. These poles are fine, just the equipment that holds the flags is poorly designed and not secure. A phillips screw in plastic is bound to be trouble. I can't replace the flags that were lost at sea.

Hi all. Like a couple of others here, I lost my clips and flag and cap also BUT....I didn't tighten up the clips on my first pole. The company sent me new clips. If I have anything negative to say about the product is that there are no instructions with the pole. Attaching a small sticker warning to tighten the screws would help. There is a bungee that comes with it that is a plus that I was unaware of. I use it to secure the pole to the rod rocket as extra security. You might be able to see it on the pole with the American flag. As you can seen from the attached photo, they display your flag really nicely (well, yeah..the Penn State flag is too big but was hoisted for my son's return from his first semester away). The 5 stars are for the great help I received and because it works for my boat. If you are unsure about the clips, you could always put a small piece of duct tape either under the clip or just above it for snugness.

Assembly is too light to remain in the rod holder while underway. The provided ball bungee is not a good solution as it will eventually untwist/loosen then your flag and very expensive length of fiberglass rod are cast to sea. The lanyard needs to be attached to the pole if you what to have it at days end. Also, the plastic attachment clips look very cheap and do not clamp the rod securely enough, thus they slide around laterally/need adjusted to keep the flag from bunching up. I suggest waiting until one of these guys washes up on the beach or making your own for 1/4 of the price. There is a reason that more photos are not provided.

To prevent the clip holders from SLIDING UP in high wind and losing your flag I added some SUPERGLUE to the clip holders where they attach to the pole (once I had decided where I wanted the clips permanently). Then I won't have to worry about them slipping up the pole in high winds!

Works great, but I wish it had a little more foam for a tighter fit. I'm using mine on a dual-console in the aft drink/rod holder. It's a little loose and I can't use the included bungee to secure it to the rod holder, so I'm worried that it might work itself loose and fall out at speed. Keeping fingers crossed!

Overall, very pleased with this flag pole. Fits well in rocket launcher and easily flies a 3x5' flag.Installation is simple. Just remember to tighten the screws on the clamps. The clamps are easily adjusted to fit any size flag (2 clamps for top and bottom grommets on the flag). Also remember to set the strap around the bottom of the rocket launcher to keep it in place. Total setup time was about 3 minutes. Putting it on the boat and setting the strap was under 30 seconds. Couldn't have been easier.Set up the 3x5 and ran it at 45 MPH with no issues at all. I spent 8 hours with it in place.Overall build quality seems solid. Looking forward to flying flags for a long time.Awesome product. Looks great! Excellent addition to my boat.

There aren't many options for rod holder flag poles so i bought these. As soon as i opened the box i thought what a waste of money I bought 2.To be fair i have not installed yet but as always if its for a "BOAT" the price is double.i wont send back but just want to let others know they are not a deal even on sale
