The battery life on my new garmin is shockingly rubbish so I bought this charger to see if I could charge and wear my watch at the same time during longer ultras. This absolutely does the job. Obviously the wrist based hrm doesn’t work as the charger covers it, and I’m lucky that I’ve got skinny wrists so I can still actually wear my watch with the charger attached. If I stick a powerbank in my pocket, I can easily charge on the go, and even when using the navigation feature in my watch (which means the screen is always illuminated) it charges really quickly too.

The charger fits well, the cable is way longer than the one supplied by Garmin, and I like the fact that it provides a flat surface for the watch to sit on, like a watch should. Overall first impression is good. Would’ve given five stars, and here’s the ‘but’ - the advert states that you get dust covers supplied with the charger… mine were invisible, in that they weren’t there!! Not sure I need them, but if you’re going to advertise that something is included, in my view, it should be!

Similar to another reviewer, I have been searching for an alternative charger for my Garmin Fenix 5s, so that I won't run out of battery on a 30ish hour ultra marathon. The original charging cable has always been a pain because it disconnects easily and I couldn't see how I'd be able to charge on the run, using my external battery pack, without something more sturdy.As you can see from the pics, I'm actually able to wear my watch as I charge it...although, I do have slightly thin wrists. Of course, it means I can't use the heart rate function whilst it charges, but that's not a prob for me. And I can pop the battery pack in my pocket.I'm really impressed and I feel really relieved now that I'll be able to charge my watch no problem! And this charger is also really inexpensive.

Last updateCharger cable failed again, & will be returned to Amazon. This is the second cable ordered, & the second that stopped working. I suspect that there is a circuit board directly under the garmin connector. This is being flexed when attached to the watch. Can be made to work by lifting slightly, so suspect a loose internal connection / dry joint.Please dont waste your time with purchasing this, as it will not last.Update to my previous review below. Worked fine for a few months then suddenly stopped working, hence 5 to 2 stars. Amazon refunded once item dispatched. Have ordered another, & will update again after a couple of months.Just a quick update, replacement arrived & works as expected. Fingers crossed it will continue to work.In my opinion this is what should have been included with the watch. Works well. Great product.

Due to where the charging port is on the Vivoactive 3 music, the way the charger cable that comes with it plugs in is awkward and clunky. It is now my emergency in-the-car charging cable, because this new one is EXACTLY what I needed!The watch connects to it easily, and sits perfectly on top of it, flush. I just tested the charge time and it is just as fast as the original, which, is quite fast.I have only used it once so far, but unless it breaks in a couple of months, it is well worth the low price.Bonus, the little dust covers are a nice little extra - I do not see me using them on the regular, but I will for sure any time I am doing a mud run or a dusty trail run. Thank you for those!
