Up to snuff with the $200+ pumps
Some of the components feel a little flimsy and roughly manufactured. However everything fits together well. It is very quiet. And the variatable speeds save electricity. The controller is simple enough to use. It has been in use for almost a year and is working very well. I was glad I purchased it and it has served me well. No leaks at all. Comes with glue unions which I used my regular PVC glue and primer on. Be careful of sizing this pump to your tank. The GPH rating is generous and does not factor in feet of head (height the pump has to send the water) the flow rates go down the higher it goes. All this to say this was perfect for my 100 gallon tank + 40 gallon sump.Update: 2 years running. Had a slight leak so I took it apart for a repair. The main body O-Ring failed and was leaking. Not the worst after two years but O-Rings should last a bit longer. I happen to be a commercial water valve technician so I had a replacement on hand. Upon complete take down and clean of all motor components it wasn’t over all in like new condition. After replacing the o-rings it worked like the day I first plugged it in. If I were you I would highly recommend contacting the seller who is very friendly and responsive and ask to buy a spare o-ring kit. And get some o-ring lube. In case you have the same issue. I personally will be buying a second pump to have on hand. Return pumps die or leak all the time it is what they do. If you have a spare that is the same one you can drop in the new one and get parts for the old one. Fish can’t wait for 2-day shipping.I still give this a 5-star. You can buy 5 of these for the price of the “name brand” dc pumps. If your buying this for the first time buy one more than you need. You will always be prepared for an emergency.I’ve seen other reviews about some mfg issues. They don’t have great quality control but they make up for it in customer support. And for the guy who put thread tape on an o-ring union 🤦🏼♂️. C’mon man! The o-ring in the union does the sealing not the threads. Don’t leave one star reviews because you don’t know basic plumbing. Guys o-rings fail. Have spares! And check your equipment often.

Love them
I bought my first Jebao DCP5000 from a pet store near me that's, now closed, 4 years ago (give or take). I used it for half that time submerged and half that time as an inline pump to a canister filter on a 125g tank. It's super quiet. It's powerful. I have my tank hard plumbed most of the way with 1 inch pipe and it still shoots water out of a full opening AND a makeshift spray bar to agitate the surface water. It pulls water out of the tank aprox. 7 ft of pipe and 1 inch flex line. And pushes it up aprox. 6 ft back into the tank. If the current is too strong its got a control that allows you to tone down the flow without adding or using ball valves. When my old one started leaking through the case after I did maintenance on the canister I bought a new one just like it so I could "plug and play".Unfortunately, the new one came and it was leaking through the case as soon as I installed it. Went back on here and did a ticket for a replacement and the new puml came in super fast wraped up like fort knox. I took it out plugged it in and viola! Tank up and running again. No hassles. No issues with customer service. Convenient. This thing beats the expensive pumps all day long, I hope they don't change them for the worse.I never cleaned my old pump, opened it today to find calcium and mineral build up (i live in Florida, the water is liquid rock). Im going to scrub my old Jebao down and check the gasket ring, that might be all thats the matter with it. If its not it and theres a crack somewhere in the front thats causing the leak I can still use it as a submersible pump. It still running like a champ and still super quiet after four yrs of hard use.My only true complaint is that I wish they would send extra gasket rings or make them easily accessible. But I haven't searched for them.

Great pump with great features.
Just installed this as an external return pump on my 30 gallon sump to my 90 gallon reef tank above. It matches the output of my Gen-x 1190gph pump exactly and completely silent. There are lots of questions about whether this pump can run externally. I assure you it can. The two concerns you would have with an external set up would be heat and leaks. I have been running it for two days at full power and I can barely feel any heat to the touch. The unit comes with union connections for pvc. I was able to find fittings that slid into the middle size connector and used cleaner on the abs (black connector) and purple primer on the pvc. Then used multi purpose cement to glue the connections. I had no leaks on the first try. Just be sure to use the O rings in both sides. My favorite feature is the ability to turn the power down to feed. Rather than using the feed button that cuts the power completely I prefer to set the power to 50% which prevents water from running back into the sump but cuts the flow to a trickle so food is not as likely to go into the sump.I have heard good things about longevity from friends but I will update after I have been running it for a few months. Finally, as stated earlier, the flow turned out to be extactly the same as my previous AC powered pump, however this pump only uses 39 watts whereas the original pump used 55. So a substantial increase in efficiency. So far I love it.

Great pump. Only one complaint
I’ve own about 4 or 5 of these that I run on my tanks and use for pumping water and circulating water in saltwater mixing station etc. I’ve had some of them for a few years now and have had 0 problems with them. Great pumps. One improvement that should be made is how the power plugs into the controller/display. They need to make it a water tight connection similar to how it connects to the pump
