Love the 90 degree barrel
I've had many locking hitch pins, I love this one. Well made, good looking, and easier to insert the key into. Normally the key would go in from the end, which can be difficult to align, and the lock wants to rotate with the key. This one inserts from the front so it's easy to see and doesn't rotate. It also snaps on without turning the key, but the key must be inserted. If you remove the key then try to snap it onto the pin, it won't go. But if the key is inserted, it will snap onto the pin without turning the key.

Seems to be good quality
I havnt had this on to long, but I like that it is stainless steel. I put a few drops of rust penetrant and inhibitor into the lock (i've always done this once or twice a year). I did this to the 12 dollar cheap lock it's replacing and never had an issue in 13 years and it stays on the truck all year (dust cap fell off 10 years ago). I only had one key left and couldnt get another made so i bought this lock. Master locks are easier to get keys. Local Lowes was able to make be a couple of spare keys . I think it's better quality than the one it's replacing so just remember to take care of the lock.

Excellent item holds up well to exposure
3-year update. This receiver hitch lock is still in use (year around) and looks nearly as good as new despite exposure to Minnesota road salt throughout the winters. It looks a heck of a lot better than the receiver & hitch it's securing. The little rubber cap that closes over the lock key hole gave out about a year back, but it didn't really prevent the lock from getting a bit gritty anyway, since it was never water proof to begin with. I spray the locking mechanism with Tri Flow or similar a couple times a year and have had no problems whatsoever. Throughout the winter I keep my hitch secured, summer is a Yakima bike rack. Neither have been stolen. Logistically - the end of the pin is tapered to a dull point and slides easily through the receiver's lock pin openings when the receiver and hitch are lined up. The lock snaps into place with or without the key in the unlocked position. It works perfectly on a Tahoe, where the RV-type trailer power couple sits relatively close to the receiver and at times obstructs longer receiver pins. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I needed to.Previous 2012 review: I don't need to do a long review to convey the basics that this pin works perfectly to secure your hitch to the receiver. There's a little anodized flare, and a decent little rubber cap to keep the grit out of the lock mechanism and it's stainless steel to boot! Nice quality item.

Solid lock and easy to unlock
I have a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness with a 2” receiver. This lock is just about a quarter inch too short. We should be able to use it on our other car. Otherwise, it’s a really sturdy lock and unlike the barbell style no more blind fumbling to get the key in and out. My Outback had a piece that curves down so it’s tight with a barbell style to get the key and your hand up there. I ordered another Master Lock that is 3.5” for the Outback. I’ll keep this one for the other car.

Purchased long ago
Was perfect when I first purchased. It made me feel secure when locking the bike rack to my vehicle. No longer in use.

great hitch lock
Very good quality lock that looks great too. Has performed well over the last year. One word of caution - the "barbells" on the ends are long enough that they press against the power bracket (for the trailer lights) on my hitch (BMW X5 dealer installed accessory). It still works, but it makes removing and replacing the lock a bit difficult. I don't use my hitch but a few times per year, so this is not a major problem for me, but if you use your hitch often, you may want to be mindful of this if your power bracket is seated near the hitch.

Works Perfectly
Bought this to secure my trailer hitch during a 2200 mile road trip pulling a utility trailer. It worked perfectly and was easy to install and remove. Definitely worth the money for a little peace-of-mind when away from my vehicle and trailer.

I then went and bought tri-fold spray lubricant and sprayed it which made it very easy to engage the key however it stil would not ...
This product is aweful, first of all it was difficult to attach to my vehicle when using a hitch. Secondly, I purchased this product in late March 2018 and when I went to take it off and change the ball on my truck there was corrosion all over the lock. I used compressed air to blow the lock out and then tried to put my key inside and it was very very difficult to get the key to go all the way in and after I finally got it in, it wouldn’t turn. I then went and bought tri-fold spray lubricant and sprayed it which made it very easy to engage the key however it stil would not turn. I then called master lock and spoke with them about my issue, and they said and I quote, “we are a security company so we can’t tell you how to remove one of our locks without a key” so I thanked them and then proceeded to drill the lock. Of course that didn’t work as this is a Master Lock, so I took a recip saw to it and 20 seconds later the lock was laying on the ground. It is my opinion and my opinion only that this product is not worth the cost and after reading other reviews online many others had the same issue! If you do decide to purchase it, think seriously about buying a lubricant to spray inside the lock monthly to quarterly (you know start a maintenance log) to keep out moisture. On and by the way it has a moisture cap on the lock to prevent corrosion (just saying). Hope this helps someone!

Easy to use
I purchased a Reese brand "dog bone" style locking hitch-pin originally and was very dissatisfied with it, the collar of the lock spins and needs to be at just the right spot for it to lock. This Master Lock one is much better, with the key inserted into the lock it simply snaps onto the pin then the key can be removed. i also have much more confidence in the Master Lock brand of lock over any other.Finding one as a Amazon Warehouse deal for 2/3rds the price of brand new with only a minor scratch was completely worth it and it arrived in 3 days.
