Excellent!
Lange Hoist-A-Top Power for JK is excellent! Unit it came well packaged, everything was included.Youtube instructions are a bit different for this model than the printed instructions. For the most part, the video is useful to get an idea of what you're doing ahead of time, but the parts that came with this are a little different (probably updated) and so you'll need to follow the printed instructions. Also the safety stop is a bit confusing but effectively you'll fasten that as a last step (although you need to have the safety stop in your cable before you route your cable through the pulley). Once you get the lift all the way to the max spot on your roof, just back the lift down one inch, now install the cable nuts on either side of your safety stop (one an each side) and now your safety stop will be in the correct location.Everything else was fairly straightforward as described in the instructions. To balance, I placed the rear pulley cable in the rear-most hole. It will seem very unbalanced, but keep in mind that the "freedom tops" are part of the balancing so once you've placed the freedom tops into the hoist, the unit will now be balanced. The rear hook that goes inside the window should be placed dead-center so that the unit will balance in the other direction.Once it was installed, this unit exceeded my expectations. It operates confidently, does the job perfectly and holds the top in place. I'm glad I purchased this.

Install is somewhat obnoxious and instructions are lacking
As per the usual on this kind of product, the instructions are lacking. I suggest watching a Youtube video in combination with the written instructions. Definitely install this thing to a 2x6 screwed into your studs as it A) will be more secure and B) will let you more accurately line this thing up with where you want it in your garage. It really requires two people, in my opinion, to install this. Mostly for the measuring out of where the unit and the pullys go. Once installed, though, it works great!

A lot of work, but well worth it.
Well made. Seems sturdy. Installation was interesting. I wanted to lift the top tof a specific point on my garage ceiling. That caused me to put a support board on the ceiling. Remember that the center point of the lift will be half way between the pulley and the hook.Looking at the pics, I didn't need the board on the wall. Oh well. I used some tie down straps to help support it to the ceiling since I will be storing it thereasy for 6 months or so. No offense to lange, but it's a lot of money if my painted hard top falls on my jeep. It also keeps it from blowing around in the wind.I've used the manual version of this on a YJ before. The issue with that one is that it doesn't have enough travel. You end up tying it off and reseting several times. Couple hundred bucks for the winch is well worth it.

I would recommend
Install was slightly more difficult than I expected. There were more models and methods to install than I knew. The off set is not explained well, but the function of this lift is spot on. I would recommend to anyone with a jeep top.

If you own a Jeep hard top, you're gonna need something.
One attempt at removing my hard top was enough for me. My wife is about as helpful as screen doors on a submarine for assistance so I was left with a few options. A friend has the manual labor version that works fine but let's face it, it is not as much fun as a power winch and does add a few more steps to the process than pushing the button and watching it go. The system balances well and keeps the top level even in the up position (get a milk jug for an empty rack). About the only improvement I could suggest is to make the arms fold down and a quick release hook for storage during the winter months. Right now it is just hanging there like an albatross mocking my inability to remove the top without my sanity being in question.
