Gave this to a person who is notoriously difficult to buy for and he loved it! DK books really make great gifts for people who don't really read a lot. They have lovely images and enough info to feel like you've actually learned something. Now he can look up his favourite operas and get more enjoyment out of listening to them.

What a wonderful introduction to opera! I gifted this to somebody I love. For aficianodos or new-learners alike. And a nice new hobby -- something to look forward to. Thank you :)

This glorious book gives a full history of opera with gorgeous photos accompanying the text to educate on the basics of opera. It whets my appetite for more. Opera is a beautiful, soulful and heartwrenching art form. The word opera puts some people off immediately, but give it a try and it will steal your heart. Maria Callas is someone everybody should experience. So glad I got this book! I adore it! Spread the word. Opera makes our world a more beautiful place. The stunning opera houses of Europe are a feast for the eyes. Thank you. 🎶💞✨️

This book was a gift for an opera lover friend who hasn’t been able to attend shows due to the pandemic. She was over the moon, and hopefully she’ll have more info at her disposal when she can attend shows again.

But you need a magnifying glass to read the print. Not many whippersnappers will buy this book. But plenty of geezers with failing eyesight will. Or will not.

Can’t comment on the contents yet, although I’m excited to read it because as I understand it’s a complete history of opera detailing all the important opera singers throughout time. Right now it’s in the center of my aspiring opera singer daughter’s coffee table in her apartment living room. She’s decorating with lots of gold so the gold on the black book looks perfect with her decor.
