Changing a TCU is not for amateurs. First you must make sure you have the exact same part number. The mechanical install is easy so no need to go into that but when you unplug a wiring harness and plug it back in, there is always the chance that something will go wrong with the harness itself. I used FORScan and a VCI clone for the interface. Do not attempt to do this with a cheep OBDII adapter, it probably won't work and a programing failure can result in a damaged and un-programable TCU. Once installed I simply loaded my as-built data from Ford and updated the firmware. Easy-Peasy! I don't know what happened to others who gave them a bad review but I was very satisfies before it failed shortly after install.

The Ford TCM is under recall and hard to find.I thought this would be a good replacement.Item arrived had it installed and spent and additional $150 to try and have it programmed.The tech spent over an hour on it and said the part was defective.Very disappointing and expensive.Seller did take the part back thankfully.

This part did not fit my vehicle. Thank God Amazon has a great return policy!

Transmission control unit was shipped third party from China. Had it installed and programmed by a dealership, and it was determined that it was a faulty component. After numerous attempts to return the item, the seller is still avoiding returning the item.
