Fashion Patternmaking Techniques [ Vol. 3 ]: How to Make Jackets, Coats and Cloaks for Women and Men

This series is the best that I have. It is not simplistic and requires some basic insight into garment construction, but it has hundreds of pattern templates that can be used to create custom garments. This group of three books are the best value.

I like the designs and instructions. Although I believe you would need advanced skills to use this book.

As per my previous reviews from this set of papermaking books, this is not for the novice patterndrafter. If you do not know how to draft patterns you won't learn here. I really like the creative exercises and more importantly I think they can be executed with the info from this book.:) The men's section in my opinion was done well.The draftings remind me a lot of Marfy patterns. Really clean and sophisticated. I think if you spent a year going through this book anyone would be an amazing jacket and coat drafter. I wish overall that more attention was given to buttons, button spacing,as well as pockets and tabs.overall though a really good book for someone who already can draft patterns but may need ideas/would like to delve deeper into coats/jacket patternmaking. Is it worth it? Yes

Love these books. I purchased volumes 1, 2, and 3. Excellent investment. I would suggest that the reader have some sewing experience and some experience with flat pattern drafting. These books have many drafting patterns for all types of styles. Although the styles may seem "old fashioned" they can be used to draft new garments by combining sleeves, collars, etc. I am preparing to start with a few blouses and then a coat. I highly recommend these books!

Super photos - easy to follow. Will be purchasing all the books from this author to use as reference material in my library!

I have purchased all three of his books and anticipating his haute couture book to be published in English in 2017. I originally purchased because he covers pattern grading in the first two books. I also love the Italian design point of view in contrast to American designers.

The directions are a little compacted in the book. I do like how directions are given for both imperial and metric systems, however.
