There's an odd thing about hair shears - it's extremely difficult if not nearly impossible to ascertain which ones are really and truly good without relying on customer reviews. I've tried a large number of them, and short of seeking out known reputable, high dollar brands, all I can say is caveat emptor. That said, it's hard to do without having them in your hands to try and hoping that you don't have to cycle through several returns before you find a pair that is acceptable. And I do mean acceptable, given that most of the ones I have tried are not even worth the trouble. I hate managing returns with a passion, so I now rely heavily on Amazon reviews.By some strange stroke of luck the first hair shears that I purchased were terrific, and it lead to a really erroneous assumption that this is a common occurrence. It's not, and in fact very far from it. So, I started taking seller's commentary with a bucket of salt and lending considerable credence to Amazon reviewers, especially when I realized just how few and far between really good and very reasonably priced hair cutting shears was. The first pair that I got was terrific, but when I went to attempt to order quite literally five more pairs, they were listed as "currently unavailable" and have remained so for several years, and believe me when I say I go back every few months to check since I bought that pair several years ago.In between then and the point when I managed to find these, I purchased several pairs that ranged from total junk to almost total junk. These, however, are a pleasant exception. I'm no expert on scissors, so please forgive my lack of proper terminology while I try to tell you why I fee that although these scissors may not be expensive professional level shears, they are exemplary nonetheless and are great for cutting hair at the level that I do - I cut my own hair and can't recall the last time someone else did, and I mean that literally.At 6-1/2", these may seem a bit smallish to some, but they are great for me, and I would expect that they serve just fine for the vast bulk of other non-professionals as well, and possibly some pros. The finger rings are roomy for 6.5" shears, even with the included rubberized finger inserts in place. They are definitely roomy without the inserts if in fact your fingers are inordinately large to the point they preclude the use of these shears with the inserts in place. They have a removable / replaceable black plastic bumper / silencer that serves the intended purposes as well as allowing about another 3/32" of space between your fingers when the shears are in the closed position. They also have a removable - replaceable slightly hourglass shaped black metal screw-in tang, or finger rest that allows great non-slip finger to tang fit regardless of what position the tang happens to be in as far as the degree of screw-in rotation is concerned. You don't have to make sure that the tang is aligned properly like you would if the tang was trigger shaped like those you often see on shears with permanent tangs. If in fact there were screw-in trigger shaped tangs (as opposed to these hourglass shaped ones that function fine no matter how they are installed), I would imagine that at some point you may find yourself having to replace the tang or more likely the shears themselves if you get to a point where slight wallowing of the insert divot threads or insert post threads were compromised to a degree that disallowed the proper positioning of the trigger tang...or at the very least use a neoprene or similar O-ring to compression bush the fit to align the trigger shaped finger tang properly. With these scissors, there can be no such need regardless of how far in or out you manage to screw in the tang given it's unidirectional characteristics.My guess would be that the finger ring inserts are likely a standardized size, at least proprietarily, anyway, but they appear to be quite robust and likely never in need of replacement if in fact you choose to use them. I can say that if the price hasn't changed significantly, these are so reasonable that you can probably replace the entire set for the price of professional finger loop inserts...no kidding.Cosmetically, if such characteristics are important to you, these shears look great, and they do not at all look, or perform as "cheap". They are lightly satin nickel finished, with laser etched iconography (a simplified logo reminiscent of a spiral horned gemsbok head (or similar) just below the tension screw (with no tension adjustment apparatus needed or wanted given the exemplary machining of the blades and tension screw setup!), and "elite" model identifier with back facing "e"s at the fore and end of the outer blade longitudinally aligned branding and a likewise laser neat "Unity" inscription perpendicular to the outer blade just above the tension screw. If you look at the proximal and distal ends of the tension screw, you will note a standardized screwdriver slot on the driver end of the screw that's obviously used to insert, remove, replace or tighten the tension screw. This is of course expected. That said, if you flip the shears over to observe the distal "point" end of the tension screw where it appears through the affixed blades, you will see that there is also a small screwdriver slot across the distal end of the tension screw. Whether this is to assist in the removal of the tension screw to assist in preventing the wallowing of the standard slot on the driver end of the screw, or there is some sort of mechanism to adjust the tension screw, I can't say for sure. Either (or both) way(s), this can only be another one of the numerous positive design aspects of these shears.With well fit and sharp blades, these things will lay hair right on down with the best of any consumer level scissors that I have used or even seen. Clearly, they would serve very well for more utilitarian uses like for cutting paper, snipping coupons, shaping light neoprene or rubber or thin plastic film amongst many other potentials for use. I simply would hate to do so given how well they perform as hair shears. As someone who often finds his left hand holding a small mirror as I stand in front of a large one trying to twist my other hand into a pretzel to cut the hair on the back and sides of my head, I simply hate to waste the edge of shears like this on paper or the like, even considering that these fal very well within the price range that make them perfectly acceptable for other such uses.Are these professional level beauty shears that will set you back in the three digits? No. Do they perform like them? To my notion, very much if not just exactly so.No matter how you look at it, unless these things catapult upward in price, you simply cannot go wrong in buying them. An enthusiastic three thumbs up for these scissors even though I'll have to borrow one of someone else's thumbs to do it. You cannot go wrong with these shears.

Great product for the price. These are not high-end scissors, but are great for personal use.

Scissors are well made and very sharp. I have big fingers and have no problem using them; worth the money!

Easy to use, light weight and sharp!

These sheers are a bit shorter than I expected, but I suppose I didn’t really look closely at the dimensions before purchasing. Just be aware they are a bit more compact than typical stylist sheers. That said, they are sharp and get the job done. The plastic coating inside the loop handles definitely help keep the sheers from sliding while using (especially helpful when awkwardly using them to trim your own hair). They come with a cheap but functional case. Would recommend if you’re looking for inexpensive sheers that get the job done and won’t take up as much space in your drawer.
