The original U.K. science-reality series “Turns archaeology into fun” —Arkansas Democrat-Gazette “Illuminating” —The Daily Telegraph (U.K.) Go along as archeologists dig up the past Tony Robinson (Blackadder) is back as the leader of Time Team, a band of archaeologists, historians, surveyors, geophysicists, and other assorted experts determined to unearth mysteries concealed by topsoil and time. For these eight episodes, the team members have selected their favorite digs, ranging from Iron Age, Roman, and Saxon Britain to a World War II crash site in France and a sugar plantation in the Caribbean. Each dig presents a different set of challenges, whether it’s zip-lining to an offshore promontory, fighting back jungle growth, interpreting strange findings, or, of course, contending with the ever-present threat of rain. With just three days at each site to complete their excavations, they race against time to reveal Britain’s buried history. First North American release of these episodes. British actor, comedian, and history enthusiast Tony Robinson starred on the classic period comedy Blackadder and has presented numerous documentary programs including The Worst Jobs in History and The Real Da Vinci Code.

Great Quality
The A/V is excellent, which was such a nice change from watching these episodes online. Good closed captioning as well for those of us who sometimes can't make out what the British accent just said. The episodes chosen were all good ones. I really wish that they'd put out more of these for those of us in North America. I would buy them!

Time Team
Really absorbing stuff, but I sometimes feel that the 3-day limit, while making for a 'cracking good' pace, can make for some perhaps rushed conclusions from the small amount of findings. I seems, though, that these guys know their stuff, and their (impressive) pedigrees will allow them that academic license. Phil Hastings is a spectacularly colorful character, and seems to me the most intuitive and knowledgeable of the bunch, practical and almost always right, even if though when in the waning moments of the program (a little 'deus ex machina' at times). I'd bet he's even more colorful off camera, in the pub, after a few 'points'. What you DONT see much of, but need to appreciate, is the pure scut work they have the minions working on in the background, logging, recording, drawing, photographing, and, finally, actually replacing all of that dirt, stone, and turf back EXACTLY where they found it.

A refreshing viewing experience
I really like the show it departs from so many general television reality clones. But in fact it is a reality show with minimal actual results like the ghost hunters, Bigfoot hunter, and so many more. What happens to close off the dig's, do they really give up at three days, and that's begs the question, why only three days? Overall I still find the show entertaining and somewhat educational.

Love this series
Watched the show for years on BBC America. This series has some shows that I didn't remember seeing and they are great. Always interesting to see what the team finds - or, in some cases, doesn't find. It's also fun to see Mick, who passed away last year, in action as the lead archaeologist and the rest of the crew in fine form. If you like archaeology with a bit of humor then this is a reality show for you.

A Nation Treasure
I've become a Time Team junkie. I love the passion and dedication of the team and how they build the picture of history so that even a field strewn with what looks like little more than rubble takes form and reveals itself and it's history. It's a national treasure. I wish such study existed here in the US.

enjoyment time after time
Interesting people with compatible personalities expose the history of Britain through archeology and have fun while doing it. I wish I could be present at such a dig. I wish all the episodes were available on Region 1 DVD. I'd buy them all.

Wonderful show full of archeology and humor
Sets 1-9 are the "best of" Time Team, most of my favorites are in the collection. I do enjoy seeing what finds and ancient buildings but I love the experimental archeology.I watch these over and over. My husband asked is the a backyard in Britain they haven't dug up yet?.

Please, can we have some more?
I love this show. It is entertaining and informative and where else could you get so close to this type of experience without being an archaeologist yourself. My hands down favourite on this DVD is the two part dig at Nevis, partly because it is very clear that without this type of work so much history and heartbreaking human experiences will be lost forever. Second reason: Stewart Ainsworth's hat. I own "Unearthing the Roman Invasion" as well and appreciate how much deductive work and sweat goes into the digs each time I watch it. And the Team have just 3 days to figure it all out. I know there are more DVDs available in Britain and sincerely hope they become available here, particularly since this series has been cancelled. Congrats to all involved in this series. My deepest regret to hear of the passing of Mick Aston.

Hmmm...Amazon...
I ordered it and it arrived with only 1 DVD, (instead of 3), containing the last few episodes, NOT all. I returned it, and have never seen a replacement or a refund. Beware!!
