The sizing was a pretty spot on. If the laces are loose, your heel may slip a bit, but just keep them tied appropriately. They’re lightweight and very versatile between outfits. The wearability is great; I can wear these casually or at work. The arch support is nice, too. The color was as advertised.

I got these because I wore very similar shoes when I was younger and had fond memories of them. They are just as good as I remembered. I do a lot of walking, and I live out in the country where the paths and roads are either gravel, rocks, or just trails through the woods. I'd previously been wearing athletic shoes, but they didn't work so well because they were constantly picking up small rocks in the crevices of the soles. The crepe soles don't pick up small rocks, so my floors stay much cleaner--in fact they pick up far less dirt and debris than any of the walking/athletic shoes I used to wear. To my surprise, the thick soles also protected the soles of my feet from rocks better, as well--rocky surfaces were far less noticeable than when I wore athletic shoes. That was a big shock to me, since I expected the athletic shoes to perform better, which was not the case at all.As for size, I wear between an 8.5 and 9. With these, I erred on the side of larger, but it turns out the shoes run a little bit large. I should have gotten the 8.5 instead of the 9, but nonetheless, I still like the size 9 and I just wear a slightly thicker sock. I wanted to note that the back heel area is not as curved or "sculpted" as some shoes, so the heel does fit a little loosely. I have a very thin heel, so I did notice that, but wearing a thicker sock works well enough for me. I have trouble with blisters, which is why I prefer a slightly looser shoe. I've worn these a lot and have never gotten any blisters yet. They are quiet and very comfortable. The leather is a little stiff, but it didn't bother me, however it might need a little breaking in period.I like the "boxy" toe because it doesn't crimp my toes. The shoe does run a little long/large, so my toes are nowhere near the end. However, because I am prone to blisters, I'd rather this be the case, though the 8.5 would probably have been a better fit. If you are between sizes, you might want to buy the smaller size. I actually think the sizing is truer for shoe sizes in the past--it seems like I wear a smaller size (8.5) with higher quality or older styles of shoes, while cheaper/new styles seem to require a larger size (9). Just an observation/opinion.If you want quiet, well-made, sturdy shoes that don't track in a lot of pebbles and dirt, you really should take a look at these. They are great for walking in areas that aren't paved, because the thick crepe soles really do protect your feet very well.

So, here's the scoop. I am a biochemist/eye disease researcher or in simple terms, "lab rat". Working in a lab requires closed toe shoes all day every day, all year round. It also requires being on my feet much of the day. Needless to say I require comfortable closed to shoes. However, I'm also a 34 y/o woman and while tennis shoes are obviously the most comfortable and I wear them often, sometimes I want to dress nicer or just not look like a teenage track star all the time. Finding cute, comfortable and versatile closed toe shoes is SO HARD!! It's become my life's mission. I feel like I got one step closer with these. Here's what I love about them:- COMFORT: The comfort of these shoes is truly unparalleled. Even my UGG slippers took more breaking in than these! I'm not kidding, right out of the box comfort with ZERO breaking in for me! They are soft and cushy, yet plenty supportive and sturdy. I might never wear my other shoes again now that I have these.- QUALITY: The materials used to make this shoe are really high quality. The suede leather is soft and supple yet thick enough to stand up to a fair amount of abuse. The color is deep and vibrant and matches the pictures perfectly. The stitching is really substantial and well done. These are not going to fall apart at the seams any time soon. The sole is made of thick but light weight rubber that is perfect for lots of walking or someone who is on their feet all day like me! Also I love the laces on these shoes. They match perfectly, are well made not to fray and aren't too long or too short (which is a much too common problem).- VERSATILITY: While I would say this is definitely a more casual shoe I love that I can wear them with jeans or dress them up with nicer pants too. Look good with an ankle sock and cropped pants or trousers as well.- QUIET: This may sounds silly but working where I do, quiet shoes are SO APPRECIATED by everyone! Our perma-waxed hard lab floors bring out the worst in shoes. There isn't an inch of carpet to be found so if you have squeaky shoes, EVERYONE has to listen to every move you make. I swear to you, these are the quietest shoes I have EVER OWNED! They should really market these to retired ninjas. If you need to sneak up on people, these are the shoes for you! The sole is completely silent, the laces don't whack against the leather while you walk, the suede doesn't creak and squeak. You don't realize how noisy other shoes are until you wear these around for a day!Here's what I don't love quite as much:- SCUFFS: When these arrived one of the heels and one of the toes was scuffed enough that I sent them back to get another pair. It looked as if they'd been carelessly worn. When the second pair came, the scuffing looked even worse to me. I don't know what it is but maybe it's because I bought the black so it's very obvious. There is just some grey/white looking marks on the toes and heels. I don't think sending them back again is going to improve it so I just kept them. It isn't super noticeable but it is there. See my pictures.- STYLE: I have a love/hate relationship with the look of these shoes. I feel like they're cute in an ugly, old man kind of way. Admittedly I still feel a little self conscious wearing them but they are so comfortable that I don't care. I don't think the style is for everyone but I really do like them personally. If you don't like boxy square toe shoes, keep looking.- SIZE: I normally wear a true 8.5 women shoe. I bought these in size 8 and they fit pretty well but there is still quite a bit of room in the toe. I highly suggest ordering down a half size to begin with and go from there since they seem to run big.Overall I really am delighted with my new cute and comfortable ugly old man moccasin shoes, haha! I really do think they're cute in a shuffle board, bingo kind of way. For my purposes they are a god send! I love that they come in a nice array of colors and I'm seriously considering buying the navy ones as well. For the record I did NOT receive these shoes for free or at a discount. I paid full price just like you. Hope this helps!
