Does this product toast evenly on both sides of the bread?

Ours toasted very UNevenly no matter what setting or buttons pushed. (threw away a lot of trial pieces of bread). We noticed that a number of the coils were not lit up (red hot). We sent it back.

Is the toaster made in Italy?

I think so. Great toaster, but it's best if you start with a toast free (empty) cycle.
