good value and works well since purchased 2018
Our family is part of a small scout troop and we purchased most of our camping gear here on Amazon as our local store went out of business years ago. We camp every month except in August in various weather conditions. Our young kids pitch their tent in winter often on ice and snow. They use the folded up back packing foam mats for ground insulation but these bags comfortably get them though. I bought one for myself to test out on a November 2018 camping trip and was impressed that it worked as well as the one my son had which cost almost $200 more. I bought 3 more for the kids as Christmas gifts afterward. It's 2023 and we are still using those same bags.

Warm bag but stinks and keep loosing down filling
I bought this long bag for my 6'3" 220 lbs husband who has wide shoulders (56" around). He fits it in comfortably. To test it out I (5' 120lb) camped in it once in Yosemite in April for four nights, where temperature dropped to 42 F. Before used, we fluffed it up in dryer for 5 mins with no heat then packed it loosely in a larger bag, and fluffed it up by shaking it out and laid it out for more than an hour. I didn't trust it at first, so slept in it with a t-shirt, a thermal long sleeve T-shirt, a jacket. I got too hot and had to take off layers. The second night I didn't have the Jacket on, I was warm enough. The third night, it said the temperature would drop more, so I put on more layers, and got too hot again. It is the warmest sleeping bag I ever slept in. It was big for me but the extra room did not make me feel cold.My husband camped in it for three nights where temperature ranged from 50 to 45 F. He had a shirt and pants on, and used it as a blanket and slept on a cot without a tent. He was warm in it. My guess is if in 32F (0 celcius) - 20 F (-10C) he would be warm enough if he zipped it up.Material is like those down jacket material you see at Costco. If you could wear those jackets daily, I think it is study enough for the bag. I zipped the zipper with care, so far no complaint about the zipper.update: We have used this bag in cold and windy situation (not sure what the actual temperature was, ~ 40 degree F) for quite a few more times. My husband does not like to zip it up, so when it was cold and windy, he slept with a light weight cotton jacket on a cot (not in a tent) and used the bag as blanket and just tugged the side under his body and feet in the bag and still feel comfortable.two down sides: each time my husband got up, he was covered with down and the odor still presence even though we air dried it. These are the main two reasons that I hesitate to buy another one. If the manufacturer could replace the inner line material to a tighter knit material, maybe down would not come out and the bag would maintain its warming system for a longer period. My only complaint is the bag smelled badly after the first night use and it didn't seem to totally go away after putting it in dryer in no heat setting as recommended by seller (seller was contacted after we discovered the issues). Would have received a 5-star review if it didn't smell bad or keep loosing the down filling.update: the bag is warm, but the odor is present after each used, air dry or air dry in dryer only help if you don't use the bag, if the bag is used for one night, it stinks!! we continue to loose down filling each use. Very disappointed!!

Excellent Bag for the Price
Quick Review:Huge Fan of this Bag. For the price it is outstanding, would recommend a down wash after purchase to make it a bit more waterproof.Full Review:I love backpacking in the summer, and was looking to try to get into more winter camping/backpacking. I purchased this for winter camping in near zero or below Zero temps(Duluth, MN). I did my first test on a three day backing trip in Northern Minnesota along the Superior Hiking Trail, overnight temp the first night was between +4 and -2 Fahrenheit, second night was between 0 and -8 Fahrenheit. For sleeping I was using the following gear:Outdoor Research Alpine Bivy - TentHyke & Byke 0 Degree Down BagAlps Mountaineering MicroFiber Sleeping Bag LinerTherm-a-Rest Z Lite Sleeping Pad - Closed Cell Base (R 2.6)REI Cirrus Insulated Air Pad - Inflatable Pad Between Base Pad and Bag (R 2.6)I knew it was going to be getting below Zero both nights, so I was also wearing some R4 long underwear, and wool socks inside the bag. I was also using the Bag liner to add some extra warmth.Overall, the bag performed beautifully! I was quite warm the first night, and actually didn't full zip the bag inside the Bivy. The second night was much windier and a bit colder, so I had the bag fully zipped and the hood cinched up tight(great feature of the bag BTW). Both nights I was comfortable enough to sleep through the night without any issues.Being inside a Bivy, there was a LOT of condensation(ice) in the morning, and the outside of the bag did get a little bit wet, but it dried well under little bit of sun curing the day. I am definitely going to do a down wash treatment on the bag to make a bit more waterproof in the future, though this was not enough of an issue to deter me from using it.If going right to that zero mark and below zero at all, I would definitely recommend a bag liner to add some extra warmth. I slept outside with this in about +5 degree weather(with no liner/long underwear), and was comfortable enough to sleep, but definitely missed the extra liner warmth when I woke up. I would not recommend going to far below zero for safety unless you are really confident in what you are doing.I did have some issues compressing the bag into the Stuff Sac provided, and was able to do it, but it was quite difficult to get it packed all the way in. The second night I used a Sea-to-Summit Compression Sac and it was much easier, so you may want to consider a different stuff sac than the one provided. The sea-to-summit sac was longer and made it easier to pack everything down, and with the compression straps I could get it to the same size as the included bag.Overall: I loved the bag, and for the price point it cannot be beat. I will definitely be looking at more Hyke & Byke bags in the future.

Not as warm as I had hoped.
I bought this and used it for a night in the open on a charity rough sleep. Temp outside was 0C and I had a thermal base mat. I also had some decent thermal vest and bottoms on and I was still cold. This is supposed to be rated to -10C and I didn’t really feel that it was doing the job. I think this is an autumn and spring bag but not sure if I can endorse this as a Winter bag. Hope this helps.

Super sleeping bag - review after >1yr of use!
I slept in this during the week for 14months straight. I was in a small tent in the UK. I experienced snow, rain, winds and a balmy summer - typical of English weather. The bag performed really very well - I was always warm enough and had some of the best sleeps of my life. It did get wet/damp a couple of times but easily dried out. Zip always worked fine. Not one fault.

Nice piece of kit
Haven't used it yet apart from checking I fit in it, I'm 6'2" and the large bag has more room than many other I've had. Repacking into the stuff sack is awkward I'll need a few practices before I try this out on a mountain side. Can't fault it for quality. I'll update in a few weeks if I get a chance to escape the city for a few nights.** quick update, first use went well the sleeping bag is perfect for me. I've thrown the stuff sac/compression bag in the bin. it takes way too long to get it in there I've substituted a large lightweight dry bag for it. dry bag takes 30 seconds to fill, another 30 seconds to get all the air out and it packs smaller than the compression bag.

Good bag for the price
I got the bag back in June of 2018 and only used it twice over the last week as it was not cold enough (October 2018) once in a bivi and once in a tent, I found the bive compressed the bag and stopped it from lofting so it was not as warm as it could be, last night I was in my tent and it dipped to about -3c -10c with the wind chill and the bag keep me nice and warm I only wore a pair of shorts, the outside of the tent was covered in forest in the morning. I am 196cm tall and 90kg and got the large bag and have plenty of room I can completely seal myself in and still haveroom to move. The only issue I have with the bag is the stitching is fairly poor quality in some parts and is starting to freay only after using it twice like all sleeping bags I store it out of it's stuff sack.

Defo worth the money!
Just received this sleeping bag and omg! The quality is amazing I never do reviews but this really does deserve one! I’m doing a hammock snow camp with the temp below zero at the weekend so I’ll be sure to update this review!
