Do it yourself and save $$$$$.
I was out of town on a business trip when my son called to inform me that the pool pump is unbearably loud, even on low speed. I had him shut the pump down until I returned. Upon my return, I powered on the pump and couldn’t quite tell where the noise was coming from, so I followed the troubleshooting steps in the manual and disassembled the pump to inspect the impeller and diffuser for damage and they looked in great working order. I reassembled and powered on the pump only to find out the noise was still there. This time I listened more intently to identify the location of the noise and it was the pump motor. I went to our local pool stores and everyone wanted to sell me an entirely new pump, which I couldn’t justify the cost since all the other components worked flawlessly. I went to Amazon.com armed with the pump motor part and module number and found this motor. I immediately ordered and got it within two days. The installation process took me about 10 minutes to install it because I had easy access and I remembered what I did when I previously disassembled it to perform the troubleshooting steps; therefore, this may take you a little longer. Also, note that the pump comes with 3 replacement control panel screws and footings. This pump motor was even more quite than the previous motor. We save over $860 by replacing the motor instead of the entire pump and another $250 in labor cost by installing it yourself. You would be very amaze to see how easy it was to install the motor.

Buy this replacement motor and do it yourself
Like the other reviewers have suggested, if you're somewhat skilled using wrenches and screwdrivers, you should buy this motor and replace it yourself (save a ton of cash along the way). I went this route after my pump had developed a leak and a grinding noise inside. Originally I had called two pool service companies to come and take a look and both quoted me triple the amount of what this motor costs while offering to replace the entire pump assembly including the electric control drive. Upon inspection of the pump, I discovered that the main 6 bolts holding the motor were loose while the 4 bolts attaching the motor to the seal plate rusted to the point they couldn't be removed without separating the head or inflicting damage to the copper inserts inside the seal plate. So in addition to the motor, I purchased a set of gaskets including the shaft seal, a tube of silicone sealant, 4 new seal plate bolts and a new seal plate. My pool was built in 2009. As it turned out, back then the pump was manufactured with security screws holding the drive control. Fortunately Home Depot had a bit set that worked. In addition I discovered that the left-hand screw holding the impeller couldn't be removed because the manufacturer had ground the face of the screw with an apparent intent to discourage its removal. So I was forced to buy a new impeller, the left hand screw and a screw seal. I used a regular water-resisting lubricant on all the seals except the shaft seal assembly for which I used the silicone sealant. The ground terminal supplied with the motor requires that you run the ground wire through it. For me it meant cutting the wire in half which didn't sound like a great option. I used a copper split bolt which allowed me to clamp both the terminal and the wire without having to cut anything. There are a few good YouTube videos describing the install in detail. Good luck!

Motor case of pump will rot out is you live near salt water
Pentair refuses to change motor case to plastic and aluminum case can rot out within 1 year as I bought a replacement motor in 3023 shich is rotted out. Recommend you do not buy this motor if near salt water.

Dust Cover Missing on Electrical Connector
Only 4 stars because the dust cover for the electrical connector was missing. It is clearly shown in the photo and is fitted by Pentair to ensure dust and or packaging particles do not get lodged into the electrical contacts. Fortunately none of the foam packaging contaminated the connector. Motor arrived in genuine Pentair box which had been opened and resealed no doubt accounting for the missing dust cover. The motor was otherwise fully functional.
