The 2 position stand feature is a half-truth, but otherwise this is great
Ok, if you want the case to function as a stand using the steeper angle they advertise, realize that portrait mode will be upside down (pics 1 & 3), unless you insert the rM2 into the case upside down. Which is dumb. The shallower angle works great (pic 2). And there is a workaround for the steeper angle, but it relies on the case leaning back on a fold in the front flap and balancing the bottom of the tablet case and the very edge of the front flap, which seems precarious (pic 4). Also, there is no vertical stand option, which is dumb for a primarily vertical device. HOWEVER. I am a big design snob and never wanted anything other than the OG, reMarkable company-manufactured book folio case, which is soooo perfectly crafted and fits the tablet soooo sleekly and sexily so that you can see all of the front of the device in its naked glopry. But after 2.5 years of treating it like a princess, I finally got hummus oil all over mine and went looking for something cheaper. I tried another book folio case that was lauded as being as thin and show-offy as the brand version -- but the edges stuck out, interfering with the pen being able to adhere to the magnet on the edge of the device, boo hiss, return-o-matic. Feeling out of options, I went for this one. It looked sturdy and more food-resistant. I got a used one ("unopened" but it had a few traces of filth and grode, so I know it was in fact opened and tested by some greasy-fingered shlub) and I am surprised how much I like it after a few cleaning wipes. I don't feel like I have to be nearly so cautious handling or bagging the device. The thickness makes it feel more substantial without adding much weight at all. My device feels secure, and I use both the pen loop and the pen pocket at the same time for an extra stylus and without it adding bulk either (though the magnet is uninterrupted by the case so you could ignore both pen-holding options for that, which would matter to me if I still had the OG rM pen). I was worried that having to insert the rM into a case "frame" would offend my eyes after the simple magnet design of the rM folio, but actually I think it is very handsome this way, and there is no real reason you need the white frame of the device to be fully exposed. Again, it feels like the screen is protected without making it look chonky (pic 6) What I really love that I never thought I would use or want is (1) the elastic band, which holds the case closed in a satisfying way, not that it falls open without it but it's kind of ritualistically pleasing to use at the end of a productive session, if that makes sense? It adds to that secure, substantial feeling. And (2) the smaller stretch band on the inside of the front flap. When you fold the flap back and secure it with that smashing elastic band (pic 5), everything lies very nice and flat and you can actually hold the device quite comfortably with the left hand and use gestures or your pen with the right (sorry, nefarious lefties, maybe there's one out there for you, too).

Great case for Remarkable 2
**Update** Now spending several months with this folio and others for my remarkable 2. This is my favorite hands down. It feels great in your hands. It doesn't feel like you'll drop it like other folios out there. The elastic when open makes it easy to hold and not slip out of your hands. The pen holder may not be necessary but peace of mind when moving it around. In and out of cars, airplanes, back packs and more. You know it's there. Best I've found so far! -- Original ----- This case has a slightly soft feel which makes it comfortable to hold and doesn't feel like it will slip out of your hands. On the exterior there is a elastic strap you can flip over when not using it to keep it shut. This case does not have a magnet as other remarkable cases. Instead it is stitched to enclose the remarkable. Along the left side there is a fold over tab with velcro to keep the remarkable in place. This is also on the same side as the seam which double enforces the remarkable to stay safe in the case. Along the right side there is a stylus holder. I'm not sure if I like this or hate it. I love the idea of having a stylus holder to not lose it if the stylus gets bumped off. The top of the stylus holder is an elastic loop. Then below us a tight form fitting pocket. It's tight. Not to tight bit it's definitely going to hold the stylus. Which sounds great. I feel it's a bit to stiff and a bit in the way. Yet maybe I'm glad it's there? Time will tell if I love it or hate it. That said, the side is open along the right edge to use the remarkable magnet as you traditionally would as well. The case when folded open has an elastic strap to slide your hand through so you don't drop or have the case slip out of your hand. Only drawback for me. I'm left handed. This is great to hold and read or reference but to hold and write. The strap is only on the left side. So if I want to write. The strap doesn't help. The cover does fold as a stand to set the remarkable in landscape mode. I'm sure this is useful for some users. It's a great feature. Just not one I see me ever using. Overall I love the feel of this case and it looks great as well. Over time I'll see how it holds up.

A good, affordable alternative but could be better for left-handers.
I purchased this cover for my new reMarkable 2 after seeing it in a video regarding various covers. The price point for reMarkable's own covers is ridiculous for not being very secure in holding the tablet and pen. This cover is a great alternative. It completely encases the tablet when closed and holds the pen securely. In fact, the pen holder will have to break in some since it's very tight when new. The only reason I took off one star is because its design could be better for left-handed users. The rim of the case where you slide the tablet in is thicker on one side than the other, accommodating the reMarkable's thicker left edge. Unfortunately, this means it does not align well if you put the tablet in upside-down to try and set it up for left-handed use. So you're forced to set it up as intended. This also means the hand strap and center of gravity are off to the left, making it awkward for holding with the right hand. This isn't an absolute deal breaker, but a change in that one edge's thickness would mean you could insert the tablet either way and be good for both right- or left-handed use.

Excellent folio for the ReMarkable 2
I'm an attorney and I recently purchased a ReMarkable 2 (GAME CHANGER- but that's a different review) I needed a folio that was tough and could withstand being lugged to, and around, various courts and jails all day. This fits the bill. It is sturdy and still nice looking. My favorite feature though, is that it has a holster for the stylus on the ReMarkable. Otherwise the stylus just "clicks" on by magnet to the tablet, this holster keeps the stylus from getting knocked off and down into the abyss of my bag. I recommend this folio without reservation.

The most useful cover I've owned.
I've bought way too many reMarkable cases trying to find the best for me. I needed something that would do a good job of protecting the device. It had to travel well. It had to be easy to use. And (the hardest to find) it had to store the pen in a way that made it really unlikely that it would just disappear when I needed it the most. I've owned 2 reMarkable 2s. The first one was stolen by some slimy slug trying to identify as a human and failing. The first case I bought for the first reM was the first of these I bought. It worked fabulous for me right up to being stolen. (By the way, the reMarkable company is less than worthless if you have your device stolen. Even though the thief would have to register it with them to use it, reMarkable said they would not do anything about it. They'll just let it be registered.) When I finally bought a replacement, I started trying different cases. I went through several. No matter what they claimed, none of them would keep the pen secure. Most were poorly made and I didn't dare trust them. I sent a few back. I finally thought, "What am I doing??" and I went back through my past orders and ordered the 2nd of these. I mostly love it. At least I love it way more than all those others. I still believe there might be a better one of there but I doubt it would sell anywhere near this price. Potential cons? The material in the case is great. I love the feel. It seems very durable. But, if it's leather, it's leather from some synthetic animal. Maybe, maybe, maybe it's a top grain leather with the thinest "top" that I've ever seen. I still love it. I just question that it's real leather. The first case fit better than the 2nd. On the 2nd, the strip of "leather" running down the right side bows up a bit. It makes it a bit more difficult to swipe to the next page. Neither of those are enough to keep me from buying it again if I ever need to. I would highly recommend this to others.

Great value, great product!
I have been using this item daily since I purchased it about six weeks ago. I love my reMarkable tablet and I feel very secure and comfortable carrying it around in this case. I couldn’t bring myself to spend over $100 on a case from the reMarkable folks and quickly decided to try this one. I particularly like how easy it is to slide the pen into the holder. And it holds the pen securely and does not come unless you want it to. . One of my coworkers loved mine so much that she bought one for herself.

Sleek and Functional Case for Remarkable 2
I absolutely love this case for my Remarkable 2 tablet. It's sleek, lightweight, and offers excellent protection without adding bulk. The built-in pen holder is a game-changer, ensuring I never misplace my stylus. The hand strap and elastic strap provide added security when carrying it around the warehouse. Plus, the multi-viewing angles make it versatile for various tasks. Overall, a must-have accessory for Remarkable 2 owners!

Nice cover, but beware
This cover is good. It is comfortable to hold in your hand with the strap. It does not accommodate left hand users, just as the device it is used for does not. Word to the wise: the device company hides the fact that after the free trial they will charge the card used to purchase the device to start making monthly withdrawals

Highly recommend for the Remarkable 2!
This case is great for the remarkable 2. The pen holder is a game changer! It fits perfect and looks great. The strap keeps the cover securely shut without the use of magnets. I would highly recommend.

Over a year and still looks good and performs well
Have had and been using this case for over a year now. Has lasted really well, is very functional and protects my remarkable on my many travels. The hand strap allows me to use it standing, which as I have a standing desk is helpful. Pleased with my choice.
