No workarounds required here
These complaints seem to be very popular...1. That it doesn't have a slit by the hole just like the original. Well, it's just not needed. Since the hole is large enough for the cable lug to fit through, the slit is completely unnecessary. Just push the lug and cable through and snap the cable sheath connector into the hole. Hook up the lug to the handle and done.2. That the washer on the OEM factory nut is too wide to fit inside the plastic housing. They say to replace the nut or grind down the diameter of the washer. Meh... yes, it's very tight and Dorman could have done a better job here, however, it does not require any workarounds. I used a socket to firmly force the nut down into the housing while lining up the holes. It's tight but doable. Since the washer is captive, the nut spins so once the threads get started, slowly turn the nut with the socket wrench and it will firmly scrape down inside the plastic housing without cracking anything. After all, I don't think you're supposed to have to grind down nuts.3. That the icon on the handle is not a truck. True... the icon looks more like a car. However, the Dorman icon is exactly identical to the icon on the OEM handle in my 2000 Chevy Silverado. Maybe it's different on other makes/models but I fail to see how this is an issue. If matching the icon is that important, you can get an OEM handle at the dealer. If it fails, I'm updating this review, sending a complaint to Dorman, and taking advantage of the lifetime warranty.
