Drastic change in “recipe”
Nick’s Sticks Turkey has been my go-to jerky for years now - nothing else has come close to Nick’s flavor, texture, and overall quality. Well, those days are gone. Over the past six months the ingredients have changed, the manufacturing process has changed, everything has changed. These are not the Nick’s Sticks I have grown to rely on. I’m now on my fifth bulk order of 25 from Amazon over the past five months. (Being loyal, I kept hoping I was simply getting a bad batch of 25). But with this latest batch, it is confirmed - Nick’s Sticks have changed drastically, and they’re not going back. The current Sticks are of slimy texture and gag-inducing flavor - just like the past four bulk purchases. So, I’m giving up hope on Nick’s, and will have to find another brand. Very, very sad 😢

All of the goodness, none of the garbage
I discovered Nick's Sticks when I started a paleo diet. It's difficult to find a healthy on the go snack that isn't a bar that contains some kind of grain in it. This is why I love Nick's sticks - I order the turkey flavor on a recurring basis. - they come packaged, so it's easy to throw in my bag - no mess or crumbs - they are low calorie (75 cal/serving) - they are pure protein and keep blood sugar steady - they taste good (kind of like a mini hot dog, more than jerky) Nick's slogan is - all of the goodness, none of the garbage, which is pretty accurate. I also like that I'm supporting an organic family run farm in Iowa. They may be a bit on the expensive side, but there is a volume discount and a subscription option on his website. I do notice that the flavor and the texture of the snacks sometimes vary from batch to batch, but it's always a good quality, filling snack.

Soft, Not Tough to Chew. Maybe Cleaner Ingredients Than Some Brands
We like that these are not tough to chew! & maybe? cleaner ingredients. & that they partnered with Wenzel Farms. Hope soon the usda stops the old guideline saying foods are nitrite (nitrate?) free even if they include something like celery powder. Months ago, a few nick’s turkey sticks I bought at New Seasons had a different texture, like a review here said (a little extra liquid,) but probably it’s resolved?- our large batch 9/2025 seemed ok. If a company makes a temporary change, could they post that clearly on their website for transparency/customer? reassurance?

Received a bad batch and became sick form eating them. Be cautious and inspect them before eating.
I've been ordering these for a while now and I've ordered over 200 of them with no issue and really enjoyed them; however, the last order I received was terrible. My experience was bad enough to question if I'll ever order more of these, which makes me sad because until now I really loved these. The sticks were received very soft and squishy. The insides of the sticks were pinkish and most of them smelled rotten after 2-3 weeks. I keep them in a cool dark area that's always around 70°F. My best guess is that this batch wasn't cooked or dried well enough to preserve them and possibly the reason they were going bad. They tasted ok at first (I had a hard time getting past them being really soft and mushy but they tasted fine), but it wasn't long before I bit into one with a bitter taste and then soon realized it smelled like rotten meat. Not log after I ate the bad one, I became sick. It was like a violent stomach virus and I had a very bad two days after. The expiration date on all of them reads "11-08-2016" so they're well within the expiration date. About 2 days later, I opened the rest of them, and I threw away 18 of the 25 that I ordered in this batch because they smelled rotten. Only 3 remaining sticks didn't smell rotten, but I couldn't bring myself to eat them. Very disappointed. I'm debating if I'll order again. If I do, I'll update this review. If you order these and get a batch like this, don't attempt to eat them like I did or open the rest to see if they're good. Just immediately return them because they might not be safe to eat.
