Who's making coffee?? It smells sooooo good
So I used this pot on my most recent camping trip and all I can say is that it is fantastic. I did not make the full 20 cups of coffee, I filled the pot to 18 cups worth of water and 10 coffee scoopers of coffee grinds which I believe is equivalent to a tablespoon of coffee grinds per cup. Once it began percolating I kept an eye to see how dark the brew was, I pretty much let it brew for about 7 minutes once I saw the brew turn from water to coffee. Everyone including myself the coffee snob enjoyed every drop and I was asked by all in our group of 30 where to get it. I almost didnt want to say LOL the handles do get hot so keep pot holders on hand I really only needed one for the smaller handle attached to the back of the pot. Additionally I did not use this over the campfire. I am not an experienced camper and also I needed the pit for cooking so I did purchase a single butane burner which was amazing for this purpose. I just felt that the temperature over the cook fire might not have been hot enough to boil the water or that the plastic knob (yes it's plastic but it was fine) might have melted if the cook flames got too high. I was very happy with the performance, if I douse it over the amp fire at some point I will update this review.

Exactly What I Needed/Expected
This may be the best camping supply purchase I've made so far! I bought for a camping trip with several other families, all of the adults were super grateful to have nice hot coffee in the morning. Everyone agreed that the coffee tasted great. I also used it to boil water for hot chocolate. This transported easy enough. Upon reading other reviews about denting, I did transport it in the box. Mine did not dent or leak and it was perfect for what I needed. Also, as with any stove top percolator, give yourself enough time to perk your coffee, if you try to boil/perk it too quickly you will end up with coffee grounds in your coffee. I perked a full 20 cup pot using ice cold water on a chilly morning on medium heat in about 35 minutes.

Way better then a stock pot.
My family are huge tea drinkers. I got the enamel one for my brother and this one for me. both are good at brewing tea on the stove, but mine never boils over like his. We were using an ugly old stock pot to brew tea in. I was watching westerns and i saw the kettles they used to use by the fire. Granted this is for camping but i use it on the stove. It kind of reminds me of really old milk jugs, like the big ones they use on the farm. Some people said this was too cheap or too flimsy, well it is aluminum folks duh. As long as your not trashing it around it should be fine. I use tea bags in mine but with the little basket that comes with it you can use loose tea or coffee if your electric one died. One thing i will recommend, don't fill it up past the bottom of the beak. mine got dinged during shipping but as long as i don't fill past the bottom of the beak it's fine. And those handles will get hot, so don't go grabbing it with a bare hand when it's hot.The tea will stain the inside after awhile probably will with coffee too. I just use some comet or ajax and a scrubby sponge to take it off.I thought about taking some big wood beads and putting them on the handles to make it easier to pick up when its hot. but they might break or burn. Either way i like my tea pot, and have made a whole lot of tea with it. This was a good investment.

Great value, high quality
This is the cheapest 20 cup camp percolator I could find on Amazon. It really is 20 cups, and it feels solid and sturdy. The boiler is made of a heavy gauge aluminum and does not feel flimsy or weak. The globe is made of plastic, so if you plan to use this directly on a fire you may want to replace that with a glass globe. The basket and column feel sturdy, and are made of an equally heavy gauge aluminum. The column does bend at the base easier than I would like, but has not been a problem yet. A little food safe high temp epoxy (such as jb weld) will take care of that permanently should I ever decide it to be an issue. Based on what I see, I fully expect this to last a decade or more just like my previous camp percolators. Pretty amazed for the $16 that I spent.

The coffee tasted great. I was actually impressed and a little fascinated ...
Okay if so I wasn't exactly sure how this thing was even going to work. This is the first time ever using a percolator. We took it camping with us to the Grand Canyon a few weeks ago and make coffee with it every morning over an open flame. Took about 15 minutes to warm up and make coffee. It did turn black at the bottom from the fire soot. But it wipes right away. The coffee tasted great. I was actually impressed and a little fascinated on how it works. I thought I would have to make the whole 20 cups and it was just two of us but I could easily make 4 cups at a time.

Updated review after camping trip..
I have not used this pot yet, but the items seems to be made pretty well. It is aluminum, but it's not flimsy by any means. I had no problems with taking off and putting the lid back on, and the filter basket and support seems to be make pretty well. The percolator dome is plastic, was hoping for glass, but it should work fine. I can't wait to use it this summer while camping. I'm sure it'll get used before then at home just to try it out.**Update after camping trip** We took this with us after a 3 day - 2 night camping trip. It was nice to have fresh coffee at the campsite in the morning. The capacity is huge but I only made about 10 cups at a time, enough for my wife and I. The durability of the pot itself, the percolator dome, and the grounds basket is pretty good. If you don't throw anything around or set a heavy cooler full of ice on top of anything, it should last for years. The only thing I am concerned with is the post that sits inside that holds the grounds basket. The connection at the base seems a little flimsy. You do have to watch this. I would imagine that if it gets bent out of alignment too often, and then bent back, it will eventually weaken the joint and would possibly break. Other than that, I do like the product. Cleaning is easy. I've used it several times on our trip and maybe 5 times at home on an electric stove and it is still shiny and looks new.
