💜 PRINCE 4EVER 💜
Added to my Prince collection, may he RIParadise. Can't believe I got this DVD for $10. Great quality, no negative issues at all. I had the original PR Album, Around The World In A Day, Parade, Dirty Mind albums and PR & UTCM movies & they were all stolen :-(. So happy to have this one again. Watched it last night & I still cannot believe that he is gone. He really did it all...and not caring what others thought or said negatively about him. I love this movie just as much as Purple Rain. So much style, class, humor (He & Jerome are awesome together!) & sexiness all in one beautiful man. *sigh* Prince4ever 💜🎶💜

Some of His Best Work
I've been a long time lover of Prince, but since I wasn't even born when this film was made, I had never seen it. Purple Rain always gets all the love when it comes to television, so it's inevitable that I had seen it before. But I've never even seen Under the Cherry Moon on tv, period. For the life of me, I can't figure out why, because to me, it's far more likable than Purple Rain.I've been in mourning since Prince's passing back in April and even though I've always considered myself a follower, I recently find myself re-familiarizing myself with all of his work since his death. Especially with more access to it than I had when I was younger. For that reason, I was compelled to buy this and watch it just so that I can say I saw it. Also, my mom is a huge Prince-head and she urged me to watch it as well. She also thinks it's the better movie. She's right, I enjoyed it so much more than Purple Rain. It's far more light-hearted (up until the end) and even though Purple Rain has a little humor, Under the Cherry Moon is downright hilarious. The chemistry between he and Jerome Benton was just....fluid. It worked. It shows on screen that they truly were real friends. And it's funny how Prince is portrayed in the media as this super serious weird guy, but I'm telling you. Watch this and your entire opinion of him will change. Dare I say, he's 'silly' in it? Haha. I feel like I was watching who he really was. A sweet, cocky, and playful type of guy just loving, living, and enjoying life. I always considered him my favorite musician and the day he died, I just felt like there was this big hole in the musical part of my heart (and that's a very big part. I LOVE music). Seeing this film made me smile and be able to just enjoy watching Prince do what he did best. I was afraid it would just make me sad all over again, but it actually made me feel better. The music is fantastic and while the storyline wasn't exactly original, it was still so much fun to watch. I'm with some of the other viewers that thought he and the love interest weren't really paired all that well...but hey. That may just be because I always wanted him for myself. LOL.Seriously though, this movie is a downright gem. And if you call yourself a Prince fan and haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and order it. TODAY. It may be campy and it may be cheesy, but it's still an enjoyable ride. I'll watch it for years to come whenever I want to celebrate the musical genius that is Prince Rogers Nelson. Fly high, beautiful little man!

IF U LOVE PRINCE💜
We all know that Prince's acting ability is an acquired taste(I love him so ANYTHING he does is alright with me...with one exception: Graffiti Bridge). The soundtrack is the STAR of the film as well as the cinematography and wardrobe. I found it clever as well as entertaining ✌🏽 & 💜

Wrecka Stow
Actually, the two are cousins, not brothers. The silly plot set aside, this is, as all of his movies, about the music. The soundtrack is what brings the fans, and makes us love the film. It also shows Prince amazing sense of humor with his silly antics and jokes. I wish that he and Jerome had made more videos and films together, because they were perfect.

Fond Prince memories
Christopher and Tricky are two good friends who run the circuits of the parties where the rich hang out and the married ladies are available for secret trysts for which they pay handsomely, and it's really all about the money as far as Christopher is concerned, until he meets an English diplomats daughter and it's a complete game-changer. He didn't mean to fall in love. And therein lies the danger. Her father is an important and very wealthy man, and as a control freak, he tells his daughter when to breathe although he has spoilt her rotten. She is due an enormous inheritance if she fulfills an arranged marriage, but she seriously wants to rebel, and after a shaky start she falls easily under Christopher's spell. This is a tale with a lively music score, and a familiar story-line of mixing the haves with the have-nots. It was also very funny in places. Prince and his 'sidekick' Jerome Benton make a great team.

Poor film great soundtrack
To be honest it's a poor film, especially compared to purple rain. But the music as always is top notch. Prince fans only.

Everbody come behold Christopher Tracy's parade...
Ahh, Prince's second feature film......what u don't remember it??Considering it took in half as much as it cost to make at the box office ,that's understandable really.Audiences didn't like it, they were expecting'Purple Rain 2', and what they got was a romanticcomedy sent on the French Riviera in which Prince diesat the end...oh, and it's shot in black & white. It was enough to put alot of people off seeing it, which is a shame really, because while 'Under The Cherry Moon' isn't the musical phenomenon that 'Purple Rain' was, it can be just as enjoyable.'UTCM' is essentially a love story concerning two characters; Christopher (Prince) and Tricky (Jerome Benton) and their bid to win the heart of spoiled heiress Mary (Kristin Scott Thomas- in her debut role) in order to acquire the $50 million trust fund she will receive on her birthday. As you can probably tell by now, Christopher & Tricky are gigolo's who try not to let peronsal feelings get involved with their business, however, this plan goes wrong when Christopher falls in love with Mary.As stated above the film is set on the extravagent French Riviera and coupled with the stylish cinematography, makes for wonderful viewing. In fact one thing that can never be faltered about 'UTCM' is how good it looks; tastefully shot, and cleanly edited you can't really criticise Prince as a director, and releasing it in black & white has seemed a wise decision by Prince in the long run, as it has aged remarkably well.Another aspect of the 'UTCM' that has stood the test of time is the flawless music accompanying the film.Even if none of it is performed (barring the rousing performance of 'Girls & Boys')the main appeal of the movie is the soundtrack itself, and 'Parade' still remains the quintessential "Prince & The Revolution" album. Now, as i've already explained 'UTCM' is, in essence, a Rom-Com.However don't but it expecting to be rolling around on the floor laughing...the movie is more 'cute-funny' than 'ha-ha funny' and you have to understand Prince's humour to fully enjoy the film. Saying that though, their are numerous amusing moments, most notably the 'Wrecka Stow' scene and the usual banter between Christopher & Tricky. The biggest laughs, however, come (unintentionally) from Mary's Father(Steven Berkoff)'s bodyguards, who lose all credibility of being intimidating as soon as they open their mouths. As for the acting...well people know Prince isn't the most accomplished actor, but he does a good job in a role which is much different to his portrayal of 'The Kid' in 'Purple Rain', and he seems to enjoy the chance of being a bit more over-the-top than usual. Kristin Scott Thomas gets the spoilt-rich-girl performance down to a tee, Jerome camps it up as Tricky, and Berkoff hams it up as Mary's father; shouting pretty much every line he possibly can.In many ways I enjoy 'Under The Cherry Moon' just as much as 'Purple Rain'. And as a Prince fan it's essential viewing...and if you aren't a fan, then what are you doing reading this: ;o)
