Rio Brands (14kg 300 Yds, Red) - Dacron Fly Line Backing

100 yds 20 lb backer is about perfect for 6 or 7 wt large arbor reel. RIO fills the bill. Okay, I'll admit blind loops are a challenging with this line, but entirely possible as these 66 year old eyes proved again today. 20 lb uses about 1/2 the space of 30 lb backing, meets any conceivable requirement, and gives you a sense of security when you hook up that once in a lifetime Steelhead that you're not going to run out of backing. I use RIO 20 lb for all my nymphing backers on small reels with .026 shooting line and perfection loops. No rotting/long life, dries on the reel without fuss or bother.

I use the 20 lb backing on all four of my fly reels. I've never had a fish run to the backing but I have full confidence that if it did, this line would hold no matter what the size of the fish. Good stuff!

Backing for most fly fishing set ups under probably a 5 or 6 weight are just to fill up space on the fly reel, so why not choose something that makes your reel look better. It's a great looking color and the quality of it is good, the color doesn't fade quickly either.

Rio's quality and price make them a really good choice for most fly fishing needs. The backing fits right into their mold. A little less expensive than other top brands with similar quality.
