Great value and works well
This is an economical small timer that I needed for just two stations in my back yard.It sets up one step at a time so it is also easy to go in and edit as needed. My only issue is being able to see the little dots and raindrops as in marking what water days etc. They are very small and often times garages are not bright with light. But with a MagnifyGlass it all became clear as a bell !Younger eyes would work fine I am sure.No regrets here.Buy it !

Easy setup and versitile programming. Display is lacking, though.
I had to replace my 28 yr. old Hydrorain timer because it finally bit the dust. Not surprising with the temps in my garage this summer! This was very easy to install for me, but I have lots of experience installing different types of electronic equipment (thermostats mostly) and have installed several sprinkler systems. But even if you are a newbie I think you can figure this one out. It has a plethora (remember when everybody used that word for a while)of programming functions so I really doubt you will find this timer has limited features. I had it installed, programmed and manually tested my 5 zones out in less than 30 min. so that's a plus. At thirtyfour bux not a bad price either.Pros...good programming abilities and fairly easy to follow instructions (I did not have the manual run problem some others stated...oh well) Attractive case (compared to my Hydrorain box anyway)Cons...The soft touch buttons are black and it's nearly impossible to read the symbols. To make matters worse the buttons for + and - counterintuitive. You'd think that the button shaped like an arrow pointing up would be + but noooo it's - . DUH! Also I can't believe noone else mentioned the small lettering and no backlight on the screen. The screen on the box looks bright and easy to see, but it's not. My old box had the display like a microwave that I could read in total darkness. This one is hard for me to read unless I'm staring straight at it in good light with my glasses on. So TORO are you reading this... how about a backlight for us fifty somethings. I won't take off a full star because of my less than perfect eyesight, but maybe a half.

Easy to install and easy to use
I bought this unit to replace a similar six zone one that the previous owner had installed in my house while trying to diagnose why my sprinkler system wasn't working. The system is extremely easy to install, I ran the wires in and it worked on first go. The build quality is exactly what you'd expect from a $25 setup, the plastic housing a bit flimsy and doesn't use full sized screws to pin in the wiring (have a compact screwdriver handy) but I anticipate no durability issues for something that gets touched 2-3 times a year.Setup and readouts are excellent compared to my old system. While you can only set start-times in 15 minute increments the zones and watering times are incredibly easy to set. A nice bonus over my old unit is that this one counts down what zone it is on and how much time is left on each cycle while it's running, which made it much easier to trace back the valve issues I was having.Overall, it's an excellent unit for the $25, I'd probably consider buying a higher-end Toro next time but anticipate this working just fine for the next 10 years.

Works exactly like I expected
It appears the manual was reprinted in 2010 and the template on the back is correct and the troubleshooting section has an entry that lets you know if manual mode doesn't work, the problem might be you turned the knob too slowly. I too have older eyes but I wore my glasses while operating. I agree that +/- are a little counter intuitive but since you get immediate feedback on the screen for what you're doing I found it mattered little. The screen is a passive non-back lit display and a bit dark but pretty much what I expected and easy enough to see with the lights and glasses on. I'm still a little shocked at how little this unit cost and that I put up with my antiquated Lawn Genie manual model for 15 years too long before replacing it with this unit. Installed in about ten minutes, including installing the wall anchors. The one thing I would think would be easy to improve would be to increase the offset from the wall and widen the plastic tabs so that the manual would slide easily in there and always be available.

Works well. Easy install.
This unit replaced an older Toro system that had seen better days (installed in 1996). The old system dial contacts were worn down and didn't function anymore. This unit has the same function, but is about half the size of the old one and the dial has been redesigned. It seems that the dial is much easier to turn and positions are much more defined. The install was easy. One comm wire for the master pump, then one wire each for the solenoids (zones), 2 AC in wires.I took a picture of the old setup before removing it so I could remember what color wire was what.Took about 30 minutes, and it works great.Easy to program once you get the hang of the UI. I set mine up for 10 minute station times (6 stations) to start at 2 AM on Tuesdays and Fridays.Next step is for me to buy a rain sensor to make it a bit more water-efficient.

Does what it's supposed to do. Nothing more.
It's an inexpensive irrigation controller. Does exactly what it needs to do which is schedule, manual on and off, auto. It does the basics because you paid for the basics. It's not smart. You can't connect to it through your phone. There is no app for it. It doesn't connect to a weather station for smart watering. You'll need a water sensor for that. When manually watering you'll be spinning the dial frequently. But overall it does what it needs to do.Requires a 9v battery to keep your settings in case of power loss. No built-in battery. The viewing panel is dark and hard to see. Recommend lots of light and mounting it at an angle for better viewing.

It works
The good: It works, good price compared to other models. The not so good: The screws are really small for the wire connections, and it's not real intuitive for me to program so I had to read the directions.

Incredible value compared to timers sold in Australia
By chance we already had one of these, that failed after more than 10 years. Bunnings and elsewhere way more expensive for same features, was very pleased to find this on Amazon.

Varía mucho el precio de este programador, pero por el precio que pague por el es exelente.
