Great portable AC power solution - Wish the cables were longer
My intention was to use this as a setup in my car to (occasionally) provide an AC power source in my car. I wanted to operate some low power electronics - TV Screen, Monitor and netbook or laptop PC, possibly a wi-fi printer, (not all at the same time I might add, although that should be possible) at least for longer journeys and as a temporary measure.I have to say, for all these purposes, this works extremely well and I have been more than happy.I have taken some photos of my 1st time test and setup in the car.My only criticism would be that I found the cables - both the battery croc clips and the cigarette lighter socket too short for any meaningful or long term cable installation.Given that the device itself has cutaways on the side lip in order to allow you to mount and or secure the device, the only place I would consider this possible would be the boot space for obvious safety reasons. This would not be possible in my view using the supplied cables. I think I will have to make my own cables or purchase longer ones to make this happen.Overall the device appears sturdy, of good quality and seems to provide a clean power supply output with no issues for the devices I wish to use.Until I can put longer cables into the car, I am considering using the inverter with a standalone car battery as a short term power supply in the Garden Shed, and just re-charge the Battery as required. As you can see from the other reviews and also hopefully from my input, this is a flexible piece of kit with a wide variety of uses and comes recommended. On this review I have dropped a star simply because I felt the cables could have been a bit longer to make them more useful in real world usage, but they work fine and the item does its job well.Thank you for taking the time to read my review. If you have found my comments useful, I would appreciate it if you would take a moment to click on the 'helpful' button.Best regards.

inverter
item did work but not at 1000w and peaked out at 700w with a lot of heat due to build quality and the use of inexpensive components , ended up sending it back, for the same money or a little more ,buy a branded one.

Small Power inverter for car/caravan.
The media could not be loaded. This little power inverter is perfect for keeping in the boot of the car if you ever find yourself in need of a standard socket when out and about. The device comes with two connection modes, clamps to go directly onto your car battery or cigarette lighter plug for use inside the car. Personally I’d prefer an easier method of charging these cables over, a simple plug may have been easier instead of having to remove the thumb screws each time but to be fair it’s robust and doesn’t take long. Once plugged into the car after half a sec the power light displays in the device and your good to go. A fan is located on the rear of the converter to keep cool once it heats up. There is one 240v plug and 2 5v usb plugs. The device has mounting holes if you want to fix it to something inside your caravan or van etc but I’m not using it that often so found it easy enough to keep in the boot and just bring it out when needed, if you plan to use more regularly you may want to mount it properly somewhere. For a 1000w inverter at £79.99 this is pretty well priced and good value for money.

Not really a constant 1000w inverter as advertised
I tested this today by plugging in a small 2 gang extension and running a laptop which at peak power, draws 200W and a low 5W bulb to alert me if the inverter stops.I monitored the battery voltage and the lowest it went was 12.1V with a max amp draw of 17 Amps. The battery is a 12V 110aH Lead Acid leisure battery (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Q8N66B0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)Running the 5W bulb was fine but the moment that the laptop started drawing ~150W, the inverter would cut out. This unit is not fit for purpose.Avoid!!!

Dangerous cabling
I wasn’t expecting much for my money and as expected the cheap Amazon goods did not disappoint. The inverter works as it should and happily powers a Tv and other small items with out issue. However…… we have a 500w camping kettle and whilst the inverter stayed on the cabling supplied with it gets super hot and started to melt the insulation. The cabling is dangerous and not suitable to power a 1000W inverter. If you have one of these, do not leave it unattended.
