Much needed intellectual scrutiny of our decadent (mostly) anti-intellectual society. We are basically entertaining ourselves to death. A refreshing ride.

To say that our culture is decadent or morally bankrupt doesn't give justice to the artists and myraid and often conflicting viewpoints that our popular culture encapsulates. This is a great book to think and digest what our entertainment values, and what those values say about ourselves.

The author goes way out of his way to over intellectualize. Good book if you need to read a philosophical treatise. I felt like I was back in school. Also you MUST be up to date with all his media references our you will be confused.
