Harman Kardon - Onyx Mini Portable Wireless Speaker - Gray

I'm a music teacher and travel 5 days a week. This speaker makes my life a whole lot better. The sound is really impressive and battery life is amazing -- I go 2 to 4 weeks without charging it. Contrast this with Harman Kardon's higher-grade Onyx 2, which I also own, and the Onyx mini wins hands down. The Onyx 2 is almost twice the price and has cheap leg-stands that broke within a few weeks of use (granted I travel with the speaker -- sitting at home the Onyx 2 is perfectly fine). The Onyx 2 has a poor battery life that lasts under an hour at full volume and must be kept plugged into the wall in most applications (parties, etc.). I've relegated my Onyx 2 to my living room speaker. It sounds great, but as I said it needs to stay plugged in to the wall to be functional, and the fragile legs make it unreasonable to travel with -- I've Gorilla Glue'd one of the legs back on three times now).

My husband has installed speakers throughout our house connected to our wifi and there are constantly problems connecting to those, and our microwave interfering. After hearing my frustration, he bought me this bluetooth speaker, which I love! Easy connecting, and plenty of great sound in our condo. I love that it holds a charge for hours and you can take it anywhere. It was strong enough to entertain our pool party of 35 people, many of who complimented my playlist. I liked this so much, I bought a second as a gift.

Pros:Best sound out of a small portable speaker, hands down.Good volumeThe curved face makes the sound a bit directional. This is a pro for me, as I can listen to and enjoy my music in one room and whoever is in the next isn't Disturbed by it unless the volume is high.Cons:Every speaker I've had in this line dies at two years, almost to the day.This is my third one, and this time I bought the extra replacement insurance. It seemed worth it if the speaker will die in two years.There are some excellent comparison videos on YouTube, I'd recommend checking them out before buying.

This speaker was AMAZING for about two years, but then it stopped charging. I would plug it in and it just wouldn't charge. I think something is wrong with the microUSB input in the back. I tried a different USB cable and that made no difference so the issue is with the speaker.The sound is amazing, the brand is amazing, of course. Portability is ok -- small enough to move, but difficult to hold in one hand (needs a cutout to grab it, which it does not have).I LOVED this speaker until it stopped charging. I never dropped it or knocked it over; it just seems to have had some kind of mechanical issue after a couple years. I wish it had lasted longer.

I got this as a Christmas present for my mom. After she kept stealing my little one...I got the hint. Great sound,she loves it and loves that you can talk on the phone with it. She wouldn't do without it now.The Kardon sounds sooo much clearer and richer than my older phillips. A solid piece of gear, well built.Now, I want one!!Thx, tc

Always wanted a speaker to use outdoors and indoors. Love the quality of the sound. Even at high volume, sound is still crisp and clear without the crackling sound. We use it outdoors when we have parties and indoors connected via wifi to our tv and enjoy watching our favorite shows and movies. Over all look I like. One thing though is how the buttons are positioned and the base of the speaker. Base is made of somewhat of a sturdy rubber that when I press on the buttons, I feel it to be a little wobbly, but not a biggie. Overall, it is the BEST buy for the same speakers out there.

Well, it worked just fine for awhile and then it began cutting off for no apparent reason. It was in close proximity to my IPhone. I would plug it in and it would work for a bit, then cut off. Plugging in constantly helped for awhile, but then the static crackling started. I adjusted volume both on the IPhone and the unit, but couldn’t seem to get it to regulate. It started out working fine and running on a charge but after a few months, it would cut off within minutes after being unplugged. It had been charged fully and plugged in when not in use.I will switch to another manufacturer after hurling it out to the driveway!

The mini usb charger does not work now...i have to fiddle around with the cord to get a good connection...poor design which is not something I expected to have to deal with when I buy Harmon Kardon
