Review: Good for art block and working on drawing skills. - This book is wonderfully done, I love the inclusivity, ideas, and quality. I would not recommend this book to very beginners due to the lack of instructions, but with previous experience and knowledge on the basics in art this is a really good way to explore creativity and see how you can push yourself forward with artistic skills. The quality of the paper is very nice but there is limited drawing space, (which adds to the challenge in my opinion) which could be percieved as a bad thing to some but I personally like it. If you are a beginner I would reccomend a few youtube tutorials so you could practice values, shading, perspective, ect. Overall I really enjoy this! (Bonus photo that my 14 year old drew.) Review: Good resource for people who want to improve their drawing - This book is great for somebody who wants to improve their drawing skills. The beginning of the book has several pages on materials, lines, shading, dimension, texture, and motion. The main part of the book is made up of prompts in one of nine different categories. The book is undated and you can do whichever prompt you want on whatever date. There is a place to record the date you complete each prompt. You are given half a page to draw the prompt for the day. The paper is smooth and heavy weight so it can take media fairly well. There is not a lot of tooth on the page so it works better for graphite and charcoal instead of colored pencils. There are categories for people, perspective, patterns, animals, and many others. There are a total of 363 prompts in this book. The author also has a website, a podcast, and another beginning drawing book available.

Great for an artist who needs a refresher course
I held off from buying this for quite a while because of some of the reviews saying the prompts weren't fun or exciting or helpful. I'm really glad I did buy it though. I took one star off because it should have been spiral bound, bound books are awkward to draw in, but that is my only complaint. When I received this I flipped through it, looking at the prompts and the first thing that came to mind is that the first section is a lot like what I did ages ago in my first sketching class. You're drawing and shading objects that either are basic shapes or have been made a little more interesting (for example, a basketball instead of a plain sphere, an ice cream cone instead of a standard cone) so the first section was created very thoughtfully. A lot of people have left reviews complaining that this book isn't for beginners because the exercises are too difficult. My friends please remember that even your favorite artist produced some profoundly awful work when they were a beginner. Just do your best, keep practicing, and when you've filled in this book it will surprise you to flip back to the beginning and see how far you've come. There are no reference pictures to go with the prompts or step by step example, but luckily the internet is ubiquitous and it's easy to find your own reference picture if you don't have something laying around that you can use. I like that there is just the prompt, I can choose my own reference and draw in my own style. I bought this intending to have it help me ease back into a habit of drawing daily and it's doing just that. Edit 1/15/24 - I'm using rubber bands (see picture)to try to deal with the binding, and it helps but I still would have paid more if it had been spiral bound.

Fun drawing prompts
Fun drawing prompts. I'm drawing each day and sometimes my kids add their versions too. Good space on each page, as there are 2 prompts per page, so 1/2 a sheet to draw each one. We can squeeze 3 versions on each prompt.

Nice way to get back into drawing
I enjoyed drawing throughout elementary through high school days but barely pick up a pencil now. I probably own 1000x more pens than pencils (not an exaggeration— love my pens for writing). But this was a good way to reintroduce yourself to drawing again without too much thinking. Just follow the prompts! Most early pages only took 10-20 mins so helps to ease you in

Not what I thought it was
The description shows you a little of what is inside, like most books do, and what it showed were some simple beginner's drawing techniques. However, what you don't see is that past the first few pages are just blank sheets with suggestions of what to draw on those pages. The title is accurate. It is a book of "prompts" suggesting what to draw on that page, but no instruction. This may be helpful for those just looking for ideas, but I was looking for more "how to".

Doodling instead of doom scrolling.
Great little doodle prompts, I have purchased quite a few of this genre drawing book and this one is my favorite.

Blank page book pages with no reference pictures
I thought the book would have a reference picture of the 365 suggested items to draw. It’s a book of blank pages. I had envisioned using this book while traveling and camping. But without cell service to pull up a reference or preprinting reference photos, the book is fairly useless. Seems a missed opportunity to create an independent learning tool. It could easily be a one sentence book: select a random object and draw it daily. I was really looking forward to using this book on a transatlantic cruise, but with no cell service, I may as well leave the book home and draw random objects found on the ship.

Was hoping for more instruction
Based on the pages that were shown in the ad, I thought the prompts would give more direction and guidance. Past the first few pages, it's just ideas to draw.... I didn't really want that.
