Samsonite Tread Lite Hardside Luggage, Silver, 2-Piece Set (20/28)

This IS genuine Samsonite. This is a very durable luggage set...It hard shell with excellent Spinner wheels and great quality. The Samsonite emblems appear genuine, the luggage locks and zippers have the official Samsonite logos, the imprints on the material show Samsonite printed all over it. The handles go up and down easily. It's very light weight but durable. Just FYI... The smaller 20 " luggage piece does not have a lock on it like the large 28". The color silver in person appears quite a bit darker in person than the photos like a light gray/silver rather than a metallic look (See my pics) I honestly don't understand some of the reviews being skeptical of it's authenticity. It was a fantastic deal on black Friday and I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

This product arrived locked closed with no apparent instructions. After speaking with both Amazon and Samsonite representatives it was determined that there was no way to open the case after it was locked at the factory in China. After looking at other reviews that came in after our purchase it is clear that ours is not an isolated incident. Strongly suggest not buying this product. We are sending this item back and will no longer consider Samsonite products.

Arrived today. This is from Samsonite in case the Samsonite rep replying in the questions and the fact it's shipped and sold by Amazon directly isn't enough confirmation.THE GOOD:Well built, good quality. I have a similar Samsonite bag and though the shell may feel thin, it's durable (may see some scuffs over time, but if you want perfect luggage air travel is not for you) and gets the job done. Rollers work well.The 28" is expandable, unlike what is stated in another review.Great price for what you get.THE "PAY ATTENTION HERE":The 20"bottom section seems to be mostly taken up by the handle, so that's a factor. Also, the 20" does not have a lock - on closer exam this is outlined in the description. It is zippered, so it' would not be "secure" even a lock, but when the zippered bags are locked it's difficult to open without making it obvious the bag has been compromised. This is good for carry-on, but if you have to check for some reason, it cannot be locked.The 28" bag is great except for one minor detail - it's 1.5" larger in total linear inches than American, United, and Southwest (and by implication other airlines) allows. The description says it's 28x19.3x12.6 excluding wheels and handle (True), the issue is how big the wheels and handle are. My quick measurements show 31x20x12.5, 63.5 linear inches when 62" is allowed.

These are the real deal. This is a REALLY nice luggage set! The wheels glide so nice and smooth and the luggage itself is lightweight. The hard material it is made of seems to be very durable and made to last. The inside of the 28" has a zippered and mesh pocketed divider and it comes with an elastic strap to secure your belongings in place. The 28" is also expandable with a three number TSA combination lock that the zipper pulls slide into. I bought this set as a gift but I like it so much I wish I would have bought one for myself too!

I used the large suitcase for the first time, and the Samsonite tag broke off during the trip. It doesn't affect the functionality, but I'm pretty disappointed to see that happen so quickly (or at all!?). I have many other top tier branded luggage including Tumi, Victorinox, etc and have never seen something like this happen (especially during first use). Overall these didn't live up to my expectations.

The tubes kneads certain types of clothes.

I also am glad that I didn't listen to the reviews. I bought (stole) two sets for $129 apiece. Legit Samsonite luggage. Great quality and very light. Moves beautifully on the wheel system. And the luggage looks great. Awesome deal.Update 3/17/17We used these on vacation to Israel for the first time. They have done well. Maintained their integrity and still look great. Also, I was concerned that we would get charged for oversize as stated by some previous reviewers. We flew United and Lufthansa and were not charged as oversize.

LOVE these. I purchased this set for a trip that I took recently to Brazil. Excellent value and quality. I like the four casters that allow you to simply walk the suitcases along. I like the TSA accessible lock feature on the larger case - this helped me feel more secure. These are the first suitcases that I have purchased new and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The smaller case fits nicely into the overhead compartments.
