This is a review for the Kindling Cracker Firewood Kindling Splitter by Kindling Cracker.I bought this as a humorous Christmas gift for my son. Once he took off the fancy bow, naturally we had to go play with it straight away. A half hour later and we're back inside with armloads of kindling. The splitter works perfectly and is even better than advertised. I've had fireplaces and wood stoves for my entire life, and figure I've seen every kind of splitter and maul by now. I had expected the Kindling Cracker to be good, but how could it be much of an improvement on what's already out there? Well, surprise, surprise - it's good and better. I couldn't be happier with this thing and here's why: I haven't been able to split kindling for a few years because of a bum shoulder, but today I discovered that with the Kindling Cracker I'm able to split SINGLE HANDED (with my trusty 4# Stanley sledge) all the kindling I'm in the mood for. I can even do it sitting down. This turned out to be a huge surprise gift for me because I never expected that I'd be able to split wood again. My son loves it, too, and the only downside is now we have to take turns.Clean design, bullet-proof, super stable. The round top makes comfortable in the hand to carry.Edit: I just bought an Estwing MRF3LB 3-Pound Sure Strike Fiberglass Drilling Hammer and it works even better than the Stanley for me.If this review was helpful, please click "yes" below. You don’t have to hold the wood while making a stroke with your hatchet or axe, risking cutting off your hand. All you need is a 3 lb hammer. Just hold the wood and whack it with your hammer and it splits nicely. You do need to use firewood that has already been split. This is for making kindling and does the job well.

Based on description this looked about right for making small splits I need for my smoker. Spot on, getting too old to swing a mull and split wood accurately. I wanted to split off the bark, and leave 2”x2” pieces. Very easy to accurately place the wood, then simply drive through with small sludge hammer.The teen girl that invented this is a genius. This is perfect for either making kindling, or your necessary smoker splits.

The product itself is fantastic- this is the second one I’ve purchased as a gift. But the shipping is awful. The box showed up completely banged up with a split exposing the product- resulting in the base being scratched. As a gift- it looks awful. If they had put the product box within another shipping box with some simple packing paper, this would have been a great transaction. If I wasn’t giving this as a gift in a few days I would return it and reorder it from somewhere else.

Game changer. THIS THING IS AWESOME. I use a 4lb maul with it. it fits decent sized wood pieces. i love using it. i was on the fence cuz of the price. it works like a charm tho. anyone can do it. dont try it when the wood has a knot tho. other than that heck yea. it makes it easy. and fun. lol. if ur needing to split pieces over 6 inches wide, you will need the bigger size up splitter. they do make one for larger chunks. this one suits my needs tho as i dont need to hand split large chunks of wood. i bet the larger one is awesome tho and as effortless as this one. all in all im a 💯 fan of this product. for the win.
