Nuance hides a lot of research
Dragon Professional V15 just plain works like bloody magic on Windows-10. Not to be confused with the now defunct Apple platform version. I knew to avoid the Apple version which was never Dragon to begin with, but was purchased wholesale from another company. The Apple version worked so poorly, Nuance cancelled it back in the last half of 2018.With Dragon 15 running on Windows-10, I talk, Dragon writes it down. That simple. Need an occasional correction? Easy. The accuracy is almost spooky. Best of all I've found Dragon learns. Unusual names or words are easily taught to the Dragon software. If ever there be an award bestowed upon a group of people for designing and continually improving a software application until it reaches shouting distance to p-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n, then Nuance, Dragon's creators ought to receive that awarded. The Dragon Professional V15 makes what the software is actually doing look simple. Nuance has had to complete, analyze, design, and implement an astonishing array of considerations and data in their research to make Dragon 15 look like a finger snap. All that research is hidden––as it should be––so I can concentrate on my work, not the software.BTW: I found a good microphone improves on results. I use a Blue brand, though Dragon is so good, you can do without by using most integrated microphones in laptops. Depends on the quality the laptop maker chose.

EXCELLENT program!!
This is a great computer program for a desktop. Once it learns your voice, it does very well in typing up what you say.It WAS "very hard" to install in my Windows7 PC. The disc, unfortunately, is a waste of time and money. It would NOT install via the disc itself (trying on several PCs). I had to get onto the companies website, put in the code number, and follow the prompts; then it installed (taking a long time to do so). Once all that crap is over, it's great from there on.I'd say, personally, that this "speech recognition" program IS worth the money.G.D..

Be Wary of Compatibility Issues with Hardware
Other reviewers have highlighted issues with software (e.g. MS Office), but I found that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 15.30 (Dragon Professional) did not work with my USB audio interface: a MOTU 828ES.My home office doubles as a webcasting and mini-recording studio; my MOTU 828ES and Audio Technica BP40 microphone (about $1K combination) works flawlessly with Windows 10, Skype, and every other software on my computer except Dragon.I submitted a ticket with Dragon (Question Reference # 191220-000265) and although the technician was really nice, and thorough, he was unable to fix my issue. Dragon’s suggestion is to “buy another USB microphone” – hugely disappointing given that even online games work with my setup.I also consulted MOTU and after a lot of work, the technician suggested that the issue was that the Dragon software is setup for 16-bit, and the MOTU outputs 24-bit.It is a huge disappointment that expensive software from Dragon cannot handle hardware resources that the Windows OS and every other software, including free gaming software, can work with. And forget after the fact refunds…

OK - Needs improvement
I have had older versions of Dragon Naturally speaking and never adopted it due to issues but I decided to try again since I heard the 15th version works much better. So far I am a bit underwhelmed. The transcription is much better than previous versions. However, I find I turn off the application because it leaves a white bar at the top of my screen that covers key parts of other applications. For example, when Dragon is open I cannot always search for an item using the internet toolbar. See the attached picture to note the big white bar that prevents me from using and seeing the top of my screen even when the dragon bar is minimized and Dragon is not in use.I got the hard copy version of the software (it was cheaper for some strange reason) and it came in an empty box. For that kind of money adding a small and larger laminated card with key commands should have been included.

Unreliable installation on Win 7.
A real disappointment. After spending $225 I expected it to just work. I had to install it three times after it kept not coming up when I needed it. Ended up returning it. It seemed cool when it worked. Just could never keep it running so it could be ready when I needed it. My operating system was Windows 7 on a six-core 3200MHZ i7 machine.

Speech-to-Text Software
This Dragon Professional software was purchased for preparation of teaching notes when my typing skills were seriously compromised by a mini-stroke. Setup and initial efforts to use the software were relatively easy. And the results (production) relatively rewarding. My typing skills have since been restored to normal. However, I still enjoy using Dragon. It trains itself quickly to the user's voice and offers many advanced user options. A quality microphone is a must. I use a good Yamaha stereo headset with a boom mike. Ham radio headsets are another option. This program is amazingly fast in converting your speech to text. Be aware that the programming engine which made Dragon famous was written for the Intel-PC Windows platform. The program engine which runs on Macintosh computers is not the same software, having been adapted from a different source. I'm not sophisticated enough to know the differences. But I am told that the Mac adaption performance is not up to par with the PC Windows programming. FYI, investigate before purchasing.

Works well.
I think Dragon "voice to text" works as described, but I did not give it 5 stars due to a concern about confidentiality. From what I was able to determine after reading a fairly dense privacy disclaimer, anything I write becomes the property of Nuance and even though there appear to be legal limits with what they are allowed to do with my writings, I just don't like giving a company access to my documents. Other than that issue (which may be a non-issue for many folks), the product works very well and was easy to install, as well. I did not need any support from their technicians.
