Overseeding Champion, IMO.... using it in mowed turf areas and under sparse oak trees.
Like the coating on seed. Overseed non-irrigated 6.5 acre turf area every winter to fill in bare spots and under trees . We carry small rake with us to scratch up bare spots, then hand scatter seed . Some tree leaves on ground retain ground moisture until first spring mowing. Get moderate germination in sketchy KY31 fescue and very good germination in scratched up patches. Try to keep mower blades high to favor the clover and grass, but sometimes the mower guys get carried away with themselves. Constant battle.Had good stands of clover in spring and thru May. Got flower and seed heads.Right now it is 95/95 summer here in Mississippi .. Clover that was NOT mowed short, is doing fair, but praying for rain. Clover that WAS mowed short is dormant or dead. Ditto for Fescue. We got enough clover seed heads to help this winter, but will overseed again, as always.

We did almost everything wrong! Five stars!
These SeedRanch Dutch White Clover seeds are so awesome, we managed to grow a ton of clover doing all the wrong things - our mistakes are worth studying, for those that want to plant this stuff right.* We live in Zone 6-7, Denver, Colorado suburbs. We didn’t plant until early June – just missed a late May freeze that might have killed our clover had we planted when we “should” have.* We didn’t prepare the ground. At all. No rototilling, no weeding, no raking, nothing. We didn’t even water it first - though the ground was moist from prior rains. Our yard is full of weeds, crabgrass, clay dirt and mud. In one place, there’s a circular dead spot about three feet across where nothing grows (see compare pic!).* We didn’t mix the clover seed with grass seed, or anything else. We didn’t use a spreader. We put seed in an apron pocket and broadcast the seed by hand. We were dancing and singing also.* We spread all 10 pounds in our front and side yards. WAY too much. We didn’t even rake afterward. In the morning, a billion birds were in our yard, dining on our 10 pounds of delicious clover seed and proving Hitchcock knew some things about creepy. But the birds couldn’t eat it all.The only thing we really did right: we watered. A lot. Kept our baby clover nice and moist at all times, until it really kicked in.And boy, did it really kick in!!Six weeks after germination, the clover is beautiful, gorgeous emerald green. Our dry, weed-ridden, patchy lawn now looks lush, a variety of shades of green. Just gorgeous! The clover is so soft to walk on, cool. Better than grass and we don’t have to spend half our lives caring for it.In the pics you’ll see the clover is everywhere, huddled all around the roots of weeds. The giant circular dead spot is now completely filled in with clover. Bees, rabbits, and butterflies love this stuff. There’s no need for chemical fertilizers. (Can you tell I’m a convert?)They say that if you overseed, the clover will choke itself out. This has not happened to us yet, but there’s still time. After all, we did pretty much everything else wrong. I’ll be sure to update this review when we know for sure.UPDATE 8/3/21: Our vast swaths of clover did indeed choke out some -- about a third or more of the clover didn't make it. Our fault. But the clover that remains is filling in all the spots again, this time in a nice slow creep that looks to be sustainable. Again, I recommend this seed, which manages to grow despite our worst efforts.UPDATE 8/22/21: It's been raining off and on, and then sunny and hot, and we kind of got lazy about watering quite so much as we were -- which really is a good thing, as we got clover because we didn't want a lawn that sucked up water and needed constant attention. SOooo.... the clover came through like a champ! Now we only water if it isn't going to rain, or if the lawn looks thirsty. Say once a week. Love it!I highly recommend this clover seed, which even *we* can make grow. I hope I’ve been helpful!

Will keep purchasing this brand and variety
I have ZERO topsoil on my yard. I just moved in to a new construction home that was previously a farm field. What I have in place of topsoil is a bunch of different heavy clays and fines. The upper surface soils were removed to build the house and then stockpiled and re-spread at the footprint of the house, but the rest of the yard didn't get any of that soil re-spread. So, I am going to have a long time of bare spots and straggly growth. The native grasses that *will* grow in my yard are not desirable, so I wanted to plant something that was poor soil tolerant to choke them out, basically. Knowing my options are limited on what will grow these junk soils, I decided that clover would be my best option for my current conditions and budget.I am more than pleased with the outcome so far. I sowed the seeds in the later fall of 2021 after aerating, and within a week there were tiny clover spots germinating all over my yard. I was very pleased. Now, it's mid-Spring 2022, and I have a very sturdy strand of clover closer to my house because that's where the majority of topsoil was respread originally, and then I have various clusters and sporadic growth all over the rest of my yard. It's a great start, honestly. I only purchased 1 10-pound bag and combined it with contractor's blend (in case the clover didn't germinate I'd have a backup) and the clover outgrew the rye/fescue mix hands down.A lot of my seed washed away. My ground is so heavy clay that run-off is a problem even with the aeration. Like, I could ice skate on it it probably. But I believe after a few seasons and a lot of bags of gypsum, I will have a good stand. This seed has outperformed anything else we've planted. The mature growth is thick and lush and much more pleasant to walk on barefooted than fescues and other coarse or bunching grasses.

Lots of fillers 1/2 seed 1/2 filler, but what did grow came in nicely
Kind of expensive for just 1/2 seed 1/2 filler
