The great Japanese technology
I have been using this product for over 40 years since they introduced a manual one in Japan. It is the great with the new technology. You will be surprised.

Weak performance and not worth the upgrade
Very disappointing. I upgraded from the regular non-vibrating Solady and paid significantly more, but this version feels extremely weak and doesn’t clean well at all. The vibration is barely noticeable, and my dentist even pointed out plaque buildup despite consistent use. Definitely not the upgrade I expected.

Feels kinda cheap, but does seem to clean teeth well....
I was a little disappointed when I received this. First of all, it says it includes two brush heads, it does not. It also feels underpowered, even with a brand-new battery. A little small and light weight compared to my Oral B. I like the size and feel of the Oral B better. Also, when I started on this, I got mouth sores, which is not normal for me at all. They have gone away now. However, my teeth do seem to be cleaner feeling than before. They also feel cleaner for a longer period of time. Can't wait to see what the hygienist says on my next appointment.

Excellent! Ionic AND Sonic
This is my 3rd sonic/ionic toothbrush. They are ALL effective and work extremely well, leaving me with squeaky clean teeth always. What I like about this toothbrush is it takes an ordinary AAA battery. EASY. This will last for months. No charging cord, charging stand or other unnecessary clutter. When the battery starts to slow down in a few months, you replace it. I can't tell you how much I hate rechargeable batteries that can't be removed and replaced. When they die, so does the toothbrush. I have lost SEVERAL toothbrushes to the battery. Not a problem with this. Don't complain that it is 2022 and using antiquated power sources. The brush should last a VERY long time for this reason. At the bottom of the handle is the light that you have to turn to put the battery inside the brush. As a precaution, just in case, I added a silicone band that I had to the handle to cover that slot so water can't get inside there, ever. You are supposed to use this with your WET fingers touching the metal plate. I like the brush and I want it to last so I am keeping the silicone band there, just above the light to cover that crack. I used a size 7 silicone band from a multipack I had. I did this same thing to my other Ionpa toothbrush 2 years ago and it is still fine. Sometimes, water will find a way... You have to use this in a well lit room as well and the bottom of the brush can't be covered by your hands blocking the light so pay attention until you get used to holding this so it is in the light and repositioning yourself. The brush has 2 speeds that are not aggressive, but certainly strong enough to clean your teeth. The brush head that comes with this is slender. I LOVE that as my teeth are not all that big. You can always brush in little circles, Devon. The bristles feel like a medium to me and I do see that they offer others in soft and other choices sold separately, but reasonably priced here on Amazon, 4 pk for $16. This does not have a timer, a pause, or an automatic off. You're an adult and you should know when your teeth are clean. I happen to like not having that. I'LL decide when I'm done and when I should move onto another section of my mouth, thank you. It is a great brush, very similar to my Ionpa except for the light at the bottom of the handle and no timer/pause. The Ionpa I find easier to hold because it has 2 metal plates, one on the front and the other on the back, so no matter which way you hold it, it works. I can't say one cleans better than the other as they both make my teeth squeak that can be heard 15+ feet away. I used this with a tiny bit of clear gel xylitol toothpaste for cleaning. After, I use a manual brush with some Apagard for remineralizing doing a very quick brush. This is $90, Ionpa is $50. Ion-sei is stupid expensive. Ionic and Sonic together make for an excellent brush. Your dentist will be proud. I am waiting now for the next generation of toothbrushes that will be sonic, ionic, and offer blue/red light therapy. Throw in some ultrasound too.

An Updated Soladey Rhythm Model with Unexpected Issues
The Rhythm 2 is an updated model that feels less like a major upgrade and more like a disappointing evolution from the earlier Rhythm (model AE-11B). This iteration incorporates a blue LED to indicate the ionic feature is functioning – a welcome addition, as I wouldn't otherwise know that the photocatalytic component on my older Rhythm 2 had ceased working – and offers a higher sonic power mode reaching 22,000 vibrations per minute compared to the original's 18,000 limit. Despite this increase in vibrations, I find myself wishing it were powered by two AA batteries rather than a single AAA. The resulting vibrations feel underwhelming, even in high power mode, barely elevating the Rhythm 2 beyond a manual toothbrush that merely happens to vibrate (weakly). A major weakness lies in the construction of the Rhythm 2. It feels incredibly lightweight (1.75 oz not including AAA battery), which contributes greatly to my perceived lack of motor power. Although at 53 and 61 decibels in standard and high power mode, respectively, as measured by a sound meter app, it's not exactly whisper-quiet either. I was only able to get a couple of years of use from my previous Rhythm 2 before it stopped functioning correctly. I'm not entirely certain of the cause, but I suspect the handle is not completely waterproof, allowing some moisture to infiltrate the electronics and cause a fault. Adding to this suspicion is a warning in the manual, 'Do not use or store in the bathroom (Due to risk of short circuit or electric shock)', which feels incredibly counter-intuitive for a product designed for use with water in a bathroom environment, further reinforcing my doubts about its overall water/humidity resistance. Compounding this, even before the unit failed, the on/off silicone pad had already deteriorated considerably. The earlier model, in contrast, featured a physical power button, which appears far less prone to cracking under daily use. Regarding the actual effectiveness of the toothbrush, the surfaces of my teeth feel as smooth after using it as they do after simply rinsing with a plaque-control mouthwash. It had no discernible effect on the tartar build-up between my teeth and, naturally, is no substitute for flossing. Nevertheless, I assume that the combination of ions and bristles can access areas a simple mouthwash rinse cannot. For this reason, I continue to use (and have indeed already purchased another unit of) this brand and model (AE-22E) of ionic toothbrush. I believe that using toothpaste may diminish the effectiveness of the ionic action on tartar removal by acting as a barrier between the semiconductor and the teeth. Consequently, I typically begin brushing using only water — while carefully keeping my mouth open and not sealing my lips too tightly around the toothbrush handle — for approximately one minute, before introducing hydroxyapatite toothpaste for an additional couple of minutes, a method I find yields the best results. I've observed that each brush head lasts around two months before needing replacement, a recurring expense that adds to the overall cost of what is already a relatively high-priced electric toothbrush. Ultimately, while the core concept of ionic cleaning remains appealing enough for continued use, the questionable durability, underwhelming vibration, and design flaws of the Soladey Rhythm 2 make it a somewhat flawed execution of the technology.

I love it. In the morning, when I wake up, I brush my teeth first with my regular toothbrush and toothpaste, for the fresh taste, and immediately afterwards with Soladey, and in the evening I brush only with Soladey. It leaves my teeth smooth, without flaque, and I can really feel that tartar is not accumulating. I am very satisfied. I ordered one for my husband.
