I wanted to get into woodcarving over the summer, but it seemed like a pretty difficult hobby to just pick up out of the blue. Several YouTubers recommended BeaverCraft for beginner tools and wood, so I decided to bite. This basswood has proven to be exactly what I needed for starting out with carving! The wood is incredibly soft (for a wood--it's not like clay), so it makes whittling and carving a breeze. The size and quantity of the blocks are also amazing, coming with about 12 long pieces and 6 cube pieces for various projects. A lot of videos you can find online utilize the longer blocks, so I appreciated the large amount they sent me. If you're looking for high quality wood, I can definitely add my endorsement to BeaverCraft. Check out their other products, too! They're (generally) affordable and great quality.

Great sizes for beginners.

Very nice wood. Clear and good grain. Various sizes to make whatever strikes my fancy. I had to laugh at the small size of the package because I expected a bigger box. But I just skimmed over the measurements so it’s on me. But I bought this to mainly practice making faces so it will do.

This buttery soft wood is very easy to carve with a sharp knife. Almost totally grain free and very affordable. Great for practicing your carving skills.
