is this water based wax?

Is this compound slightly abrasive? I want to polish then buff out scratches on a stainless steel refrigerator. This would be the first step.

Yes it's slightly abrasive.I used it to clear my yellowing headlight lenses.Test it on the underside of the door or some place that can't be seen if it's too abrasive.Good luck.

Can we use this compound on slightly scratched acrylic kitchen benchtops?

Yes, but getting scratches out of anything usually requires many steps. Start with a wet-type sandpaper. How fine depends on the scratches you're starting with. After one type, go to a finer, until you reach at least #600 grit. Then I go to TurtleWax Rubbing Compound, then this Polishing Compound. It's all easy OR complicated. There are books on this topic. IF you use an electric buffer on acrylic, keep speed low or you'll melt it. Short answer to your question is Yes and good luck.
