Great teaching aid and attention keeper for small children!!
Although I've been teaching adult yoga for years, my first foray into children's yoga was for two classrooms of kindergarteners at my childrens' school. (eek, right?) I planned ahead and purchased Yoga Pretzels, based on the many positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of breathing exercises, group exercises, and at the arrangement of the pose cards (they're broken into standing, seated, twisting, balancing, etc poses) as I shuffled through the deck. I was quickly able to create a sequence of breathing, poses and group activity/discussions that was easily adaptable to the 9 groups I taught, and which was able to catch and keep their varying levels of interest (and appropriate for their varied skill levels). The children appreciated being able to read pose names, and see clear pictures of the final poses, and were genuinely excited each time I revealed a new card.My own 3 children (ages 4-8) are now enjoying the deck at home, and it's made for some great conversations, adaptations, and group play. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to have a strong class plan for teaching to children, especially since it's so easy to add or omit poses depending on the students' needs or abilities.

Yoga cards for engaging Family and Children yoga classes
For anyone who is teaching children and family yoga, this deck of cards is a must have. In spite of the name "Yoga Pretzels" the poses are fun and easy to do. Deck includes recommended practices on breath, relaxation and actual poses. Cards are large and made of strong material so they will not bend. The are made of colorful pictures and recommendations for the practice of breath and movement. It is a very clever way to keep children engaged during their practice and still provide them a level of education about their health and well being.I am really pleased that I could find this material on Amazon. Children and Family Yoga class outlines are difficult to find and it is challenging to continue providing engaging classes without being repetitive. As everyone knows child's imagination can go wild and one can never come up with enough stories to tell, in and out of yoga classes. Excellent reference material for children yoga teachers that can be used in many combinations for a number of engaging classes.

Brain Break for my Students!
I bought this product to use with my pre-k students and they love the yoga poses and breathing exercises. I use these to give my students a brain break. Whenever I notice my students need a break to get their bodies moving or minds refocused, I pull out one of these cards. The kids really enjoy the breathing exercises. They often will reference the different breathing exercises they’ve learned from these cards such as the bunny breaths or elephant breaths.

Loved this!
I bought these used and I’m very happy with my purchase. The quality and condition was great for the cost and what I used them for. These cards are SUPER cute.I’m so glad I purchased these. I was teaching yoga for a fundraiser at a primary school & was looking for fun yoga options and came upon these. The kids I taught were 4.5-5 yrs old. These yoga cards were a hit! They really got into it and one kid said “This is fun!”. That was music to my ears. There are categories to the cards at the top right corner (as you can see in the pics): “backbends, forward bends, stretch & twist”, etc… I would have each kid pick a card from the category deck (they couldn’t see the pose in front). I would have them do the pose and the rest of the class would do it too. I would gather the cards and put them in a sequence (see the last 2 pics. I circled them on the floor). The kids took turns doing the pose that they picked. Every kid got the chance to teach a pose. We played this 2-3x.Note: the class I taught was very small. I ended the class by reading a yoga book. Surprisingly, they all remembered I had mentioned that one of the activities was storybook time and during class one child said “Can we read a book!!!?”. I had bought “I am Yoga” (see my review on this book). These cards were a hit and I loved them. You can use your imagination and creativity in how you want to utilize & cater this to your class. Overall, great purchase.

Love using these with my kindergarteners!
I use these as part of our morning routine with a yoga pose of the day in my kindergarten class. I like how they have little sayings for each step in the movement, and have a follow up question on them to connect the pose to thoughts or feelings. There are a few that I don't do for safety reasons or aren't appropriate for class (either more for a parent/child or smaller group), but there are plenty of others to have a few weeks worth of different ones for the kids to learn and not get tired doing. I also like that they have several breathing exercises, as I do some mindfulness practices with them as well and this ties in perfectly. They would be great for older kids as well, I haven't used them, but have done mindfulness & yoga with third graders before, and I know they'd totally be into these. Fun product!
